Funny what just popped up in the multi-named funny pictures thread.

My girlfriend took hers to the dealer until the last change, which I did. They apparently lost the screws for the access cover in the splash pan and just stuffed it in place. The oil filter was tightened so much that I needed to put a lot of force on a filter wrench to get it to let go.

Last time a dealer did my oil change was dead of winter and I was overdue. I took it in and, the next time, I had to use a breaker bar on my drain plug and big ass channel locks on my filter. I completely crushed the filter to get enough grip to move it. Never again, it's not worth it.

I'm thinking of building a ramp structure in my yard to get the truck up off the ground for doing work on it.

So. In July, I got stopped for speeding in Louisiana. In September I got stopped IN RHODE ISLAND for suspected DUI (someone called in to report me going only 5 over the speed limit....I shit you not, I had it all on dash cam and reviewed with the officer, it was amazing).

Anyway. Point is, my registration expired in March 2020 and I just realized now. Fortunately RI renewal is easy and took 4 minutes online, but damn dude! Ain't nobody catch that!?

I don't now about that area, but I know that around here the police were giving everybody a pass on expired reg or inspection for most of last year.

In VT my buddy says he sees a huge amount of cars that just have cardboard on their license plate where they have written "COVID19". Apparently you can't get into the DMV these days.

I mean, sure, but like...damn two cops ain't even mention it?

Ah well. In the same boat, I appear to have also missed my dog license renewal as well. Which, meh - but we take her to dog parks a lot and I'm bringing her across country and to dog parks here and there sooooo should probably at least have that done.

Seen a lot of that, I think it's fair enough. I know (for some reason I know this...) in Michigan you have (pre-covid stuff) was something like you were allowed to drive for a week without plates if you just bought a used vehicle or something like that. Nowadays haven't a clue.

Dog license thing just pisses me off. I don't see why I need to pay the town to keep my dog. Everything has to be a money grab...

In MA, it's even more screwed up. You can take a plate off a different vehicle and slap it on a new vehicle for a week, as long as it's the same class of vehicle.

:notsure: as long as it's your plates, meh. My opinion - no big deal, as long as everything is on the up and up, whatever.

Dog stuff is annoying. I have to pay the city to prove that I have her vaccinated for rabies. So I could just not have her vaccinated and then not pay reg and save more monies!

But I might end up taking her to Canada this summer if I'm allowed to go across the border (circumnavigate Lake Superior) so I want to be on the straight and narrow with dog legalities.

RI is funny - way more corruption than MA, such a disaster - but taxes and licenses etc are lower and easier to deal with. I miss NH though.

I'm hoping to get out of work early enough tomorrow to enjoy the 60 degree forecast and get the change done. Finally have a dry driveway also so I should be warm and dry this time around.

I agree, I have a lot to catch up on this spring. Oil change this week, coolant drain/fill at some point (might have shop do this while I get my inspection), new plugs, new belt. Front brakes may be due this fall and then will need new tires before next winter (highly recommend the Wildpeaks to anyone, great all around tire never had a problem).

Meh, if you're already dicking around with plugs and belts, if your coolant isn't nasty, I'd say just drain and refill what you can, burp it real quick - geronimo, off you go. :notsure:

Unfortunately - my next tires are probably going to be KO2 E load, 10 ply equivalents. I may or may not end up going up to Toktayuktuk next summer and will want E's, so I'm going to end up with those first (or some E load, doesn't have to be K Bro 2s)

Every truck (with a pickup bed) in Rhode island has the same registration renewal date, March 31st, and it is every year, unlike cars and SUVs, which is every 2 years, and expires the same month you registered the car in.

Even though they pulled you over, they are not going to give you a heads up that your registration is almost expired, all the care about is if it is expired!
