Just wait. The other day I had a sub tell me if they aren't released to order material by the middle of the month they will have a $100k price increase on the job. The same thing will happen to new construction houses

 

Assuming the snow blower I just ordered actually arrives at the store on Saturday, I will be going snow wheeling at the mall too

 

Hindsight is always 20/20, but boy do I feel like we dodged a bullet buying a house when we did.

 

how big is the job to start with? thats a huge increase

 

I'll believe it, my house gained 95k in equity this year alone.

 

I want to finish my basement this summer and I'm scared at how much the lumber is going to cost. I keep hearing that the price isn't down anytime soon and it is just going to keep going up.

 

It’s a $40M job but that contractors scope is roughly $6M, I don’t know off the top of my head what portion of that is material, but I would guess around half

 

Buy lumber early as you can, price historically increases from Spring to Summer.

Happens all the time. As soon as the Bikini's come out the wood goes up. Or something like that. The price of lumber for my downstairs remodel went up 20% from the time started to quotes given when it finished 4 months later.
