Hey guys. My 2017 Tacoma despite the "normal" engine noise and weird transmission shifting has basically served me well. However, as I am getting older and less flexible at 6' I notice I am constantly banging my head getting in the vehicle. Hence I am thinking of maybe getting a 2021 SR5 Tundra with the 5.7 V8 before the new body style and engine replacement kick in. I do not like the new upcoming body style and would rather have a V8 than a turbo 4 or 6. Any opinions?

Congrats in advance! Great truck. Motor is stout, as we have a LX570 in the family (200 series).

Should get a good deal, with new Tundra Hybrid and V6TT versions coming.

Dealers are actually asking top price (like sticker) for the current 2021 Tundras on the lot as they are in short supply due to Covid and a computer chip shortage. Its like the perfect storm at the wrong time for me!

In the end if I had to keep my Tacoma it would NOT be the end of the world despite the sales spin.

Like these fellows have already said, Tundra's are pretty bullet proof trucks. If you don't mind driving something bigger, I'm sure you'll love it. Especially with the V8!

Those are all the 4.7L V8, right?

I think OP is looking at the 5.7L (not that those can't hit a million miles as well)

I've been considering the same. Getting the Tundra now before it changes to the new body style and V6 turbo..

Oh man, now would be the time to do it! Resale would be a beast on the final year of the Tundra V8. Don't miss the boat.

Not only Tundra's, Tacoma's and 4runner's are equally in short supply with high demand (here in Cali). Even RAV4's are slim pickings. Wife wanted a 4runner but dealer's around my area (OC/Irvine) are all wanting MSRP or +1k over.

    Gorgeous

I wish that king crew cab had a 6.5 bed, then I would have one.

That's what we found when we were shopping for a 4Runner recently. Ended up heading over to Lexus and picking up a new GX 460 at 5k off sticker.

I hear ya and ours wasn't until recently. Thing is, the 4Runner was about 50k with options and the GX ended up being 53k (these numbers are before tax and license). Difference wasn't huge and much like the OP, I love the idea of getting a V8 while you still can.

    None yet
Gas price might be a concern.
