Pull the winch cable off and remove that end. It could be a piece of the planetary gear. I'd find out what it is before it fails on you on the trail when you really need it. Speaking of which, I should probably pull mine apart to clean and regrease.

Meh...just a extra lock washer thrown in there for good measure. I rolled it around and got it to fall out.20210310_173916.jpg

It may go on one of your power leads or on your ground strap based on the size of it.

It's actually identical to the one on the ground strap, so I'm going to go with assembly guy butterfingers dropped it in there. Good guess!

I accidentally drop and sometimes kick my phone at least 3 times a week. Not to mention how many times I do it with my tools. My pull out of pocket spin move is pretty good but not perfect

There's no more rattle after I shook that little lock washer out.
I'm going to get it installed soon and power it up before putting the bumper back on. I should look that owners manual over a little more. Do they generally give maintenance items like @JustAddMud mentioned about cleaning and greasing the gears? Or is this just good practice like maintaining the old style lock out hubs kind of thing?

It’s a different animal I’m sure, but I’ve taken a few atv winches apart to clean and regrease, and the planetary assembly is not as robust as you hope it would be, so tearing it apart once in a while might not be a terrible idea

That would be like sleeping in a hour and a half every day! Bummer part about having 45 minute drive to work.
