I totally agree. I could've grabbed a c70 but for the price it just wasn't worth it. I can get close to c70 spec with just a bit more spent on the c50

Yeah. I agree with you. However, in my experience, some bike manufacturers are a bit pricier but they also honor warranties VERY hard. Lots of situations of "no questions asked". Are you willing to pay a little bit more for that kind of service? I was...but also, I got a discount through my LBS. so...yeah.

It’s cool to see Cane Creek suspension as OE specs on a bike.

Nice! Yeah I love their bikes. I mean how sexy is this bike?! Customer service is an important decision factor, but looks....

Oh yeah. It's a good looking bike. I remember when I first saw the purple color and I loved it. However, the purple kinda has lost its luster on me. the black and copper, on the other hand, looks amazing and just keeps its looks pretty solidly.

The only thing I would recommend outside of upgrading parts as they wear out is the 54 star ratchet upgrade. Game changer on a dt 370

a dt 370 is a three pawl so can't upgrade. you can change a few things here and there to try and frankenstein it but not recommended. you need a 350 to do the ratchet. I had a 240s with the 54t on my old bike. It was amazing. My short travel has an i9 hub and I love the quick engagement on it. Wheel upgrades are definitely on the docket though. :D

You can, I’ve done it. I rode the crap out of it afterwards with no issues. However, if you have money for an entire wheel set I’d go that route.

yeah. it's doable. but if I remember, dt-swiss says that they dno't really recommend it. I'd rather just buy a new wheelset honestly. get a more bombproof hub.

Just built my new Instinct C50 yesterday. I'll get some photos when the weather and trails are good enough to ride. I've just left it on display at the shop for now.

Can't wait to get it out. First mountain bike with any sort of suspension!

Tomorrow might not be good. the snow/rain might not help dry creek stay....dry. I'd be wary. Unless you shuttled it. That said, I have meetings all afternoon tomorrow so I'm out. :(

I’m sure they don’t recommend doing it for cheaper than they sell there 240 for. All jokes aside, all the components I added were DT Swiss and they screw on and off no problem. Them saving money in manufacturing by having universal components that are cross compatible benefit the consumer too.

The price increases across the board are crazy. I'm going to be selling my Ibis Hakka that I bought in 2018. I priced out a new one w/ the same build spec and it's legitimately 18% higher. Also in 2018, I got it right before the whole "we charge sales tax over the internet" thing became common throughout almost every state. So to build the same bike now would be almost 1k more than only 3 years ago. ughhhhhh.

Or do what I did...ride so often that she decides to get a bike to spend more time together. Then take bike-involved vacations. It's worked surprisingly well for the past 3 years lol.
