Hello all and veterans of WA state. I am wanting to start a once a month gettogether/camp/bbq. I have been in the PNW for a year now, I have connected with some really veterans as well as many other active duty members from various branches of the military. Many of us struggle with PTSD and other service connected issues that only other veterans can understand and directly relate to. I struggle with PTSD and to help mitigate this, I scuba dive and help teach at a non-profit to help wounded/injured veterans and active duty service members how to scuba dive. I really have a soft spot for the human condition. I would love to start a monthly or bi monthly, weekly, whatever, veterans meetup. We can pick a spot, ride off the beaten path, camp out, have a fire enjoy some good BBQ/food and beers next to a fire. I will also reach out to WWP and see if we can get some swag for us all. I recently lost two close friends to suicide at JBLM. Too many of us take our own lives everyday. I would much rather be in company of a bunch of foul mouthed scoundrels drinking beer then a VA group meet.
I have a few people at WWP that I can reach out to to get some sweaters, t shirts and other stuff. Just an idea that I have been thinking about. I have a few friends here since I was injured and sent here to the PNW for treatment. Any input and other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
@PugetSoundTaco @Taliban_Tan @wrmathis . please tag and share with the various vets we have in the PNW on the forum and see if they would be interested as well.

Great idea. I'm about 5:30hrs east over in Spokane, but i'll make the drive. I was just thinking about pulling the trigger on a RTT, wait time is two weeks on the one i'm thinking about. Hopefully there are some cool spots further inland. Either way, count me in.

Really like this idea. I’m not a vet but I always want to see them healthy and happy after their service. Things like this are helpful avenues and it’s awesome to see

So I am not a PNW native, and I have not yet explored very part of this state thus I will need some suggestions and recommendations as a collective to gage ideas for the first run/meet/campout. I should hear back from the WWP by mid next week to get us some swag, vehicle decals (possibly), sweaters, t-shirts. Also how do you all feel about cigars? When I deployed I reached out to a non profit called cigars for warriors. They send cigars for deployed soldiers. I can reach out to them as well and maybe provide us with some stogies .All these organizations are good and the end goal (at least for me) is to bring more awareness to veteran suicide.
