Torque Pro vs ODB Fusion

I am new the forum, and see there is a lot of into on here about OBD2 readers. I think I have narrowed down the hardware, but I am curious to hear some advantages/disadvantages of Torque Pro vs ODB Fusion apps. I am leaning toward Torque Pro since it is the one that supports Bluetooth. I don't like the idea of having my phone's wifi tied up while using the Fusion app. Curious to hear thoughts, they both seem like great apps. I do have an android device by the way... it seems like if you are apple only Fusion is the way to go.

 

I and a lot of the other users use OBD Fusion, supports a lot of the Toyota PIDs, don't know much about Torque Pro though sorry, just know OBD Fusion works great and has lots of options, What diagnostic plug adapter are you using?

 

I thought OBD Fusion wasn’t even available on Android

 

OBD Fusion is good, but slow to design your dashboard. Not sure about Torque Pro, but I do know both are very popular.

But, (not advertising here, just informing others what I have found) if you purchase the OBDLink MX+ (maybe any product from OBDLink?) you can use the OBDLink app, that looks exactly like OBD Fusion, and you don't have to pay to download every Toyota PID. Wish I would have known that before spending the $50 in OBD Fusion. Hopefully this helps someone looking to monitor.

By the way, OBD Fusion and OBDLink both use bluetooth to connect to the MX+ that I have.

It is, and I have it installed. You can even import a dashboard made from an IOS device, as I have done that as well.

 

Your phone still gets data from the cell network and works normally when hooked to a WiFi reader. I’m pretty sure OBDLink is all Bluetooth now and the Toyota pid access is free.

 

Thanks for the info all, that answers some of my questions. I was planning to use BAFX3127 for the ODB scanner, I am just debating which app to go with. The fact that OBD Fusion works on Bluetooth is good info... one article I read said that it worked wifi only. So I guess it is a no brainer to get the Bluetooth scanner over the wifi version then? Seems like most on here are preferring the OBD Fusion app. Looking at the downloads on the google play store, it looked like the Torque Pro was more popular and had better reviews.

 

Looks like I am going to have to check out the MX+. I had not researched that one yet.

 

I have both on Android. Torque was my first app and what I am used to. OBD Fusion can be a bit more powerful, especially with the add on Toyota PIDs.

I have a cheap 7yr old ELM327 clone that still works great. I paid about $15 delivered.

All of it together is well worth it. Not to mention other apps like Carista.

is automatic transmission gear position available in Torque Pro for 3rd gen Tacoma’s?
Also for those who bought the OBDLink MX+ is AT gear position included in the standard or free obdlink apps? Does it include the Toyota Enhanced diagnostics? On the OBD Fusion website Toyota Enhanced add on software is currently listed as $79 no way will I pay that plus the $99 cost of the MX+.

Will the OBDlink LX work too? I have that for my BMW bikes.

 

I have both. I had Torque first, then went to Fusion. I use the Carista dongle and have no issues. I prefer the Fusion app with the added Toyota PIDs as it has more info available.

The free app with the OBDLink comes with free manufacturer enhanced add ons and you can see gear position. It works great on my 3rd gen.

Is there much a difference between ODBLink MX+ and ODBLink CX?

 

Hey everyone; I have a 2023 TRD and am currently using the OBD Fusion app. Does anyone know if you can monitor transmission temperature, have not been able to find it?

 

Yes, you can monitor everything. Did you buy inside the app the Toyota package?
I believe the latest package is 2021,so make sure to setup your truck as 2021 in the app, otherwise it won't work.

 

I see it’s another $15 for the 2021 add on, is that the one I need?
