There is no oil temperature sensor on these trucks that I can find. I've looked through the manual as well as the parts diagrams, nothing.

I should add, no sensor for the engine. There is one on the front diff.... maybe we could repurpose it. Lol!

We make A-Pillar UG and SG mounts for the 1st and 2nd Gens that hold the gauges securely and easily viewable:

    20191112_142118.jpg

For the 3rd Gen, we had KTJO4x4 try the mount with her A-pillar grab handle, and it seemed to work pretty well. Of course you have to buy her grab handle, and there's a whole separate thread on that topic :D.

As a third gen with a drivers side grab handle, it was a fiasco. But also your mount looks like a good option for those of us who came out on the other side of said fiasco.

I was dumb enough to jump in on the HUD she offered not knowing her history. They first time I came back to check on it she was given the permanent boot. I had to keep commenting on her posts on facebook to get a reply and she STILL never answered if she got my order in correctly because she doesn't show it on her website. I'm basically considered it a lesson learned at this point and if I get a hud, great.

Yup, having read that thread, we decided not to partner up with her.

@SpikerEng, do you plans on making an Ultra Gauge mount for 3rd Tacomas? That would be awesome, haven't really found a clean way to mount one yet.

The A-pillar grab handle would have been a good option, but we're looking into other ideas, given the grab handle fiasco. Or maybe we should design our own grab handle and bundle with a gauge mount:).

You mean with the KTJO 4x4 handle? She said it looked good when she tried it, though maybe needed a longer screw. Since we haven't actually seen an installation, we can't say that it works - still looking for a guinea pig (hint hint). Here's how it looked in her set-up:
