Went with the ch4x4. I liked the symbol better than the AOB but I hear the AOB blue light is closer to oem. We’ll see

That is exactly why I am still on the fence. I am leaning toward the AOB because I believe it will look more like it came from the factory if the lights match and on their website it looked pretty similar. However, I do like the symbol options on ch4X4 better, so I am putting off the decision for now. I haven't gotten my harness yet and I will probably wait until after my first service (I only have 2,200 miles) to install it. I am a little concerned that it could void my warranty -- another reason that I want the button to look stock. All I know is that the first time that I towed a trailer and tried to back it into my driveway, I had to take a running start -- which is ill advised and why 2lo is needed!

If you get the AOB and hate it and I turn out to hate the CH4x4 we’ll just mail ours to each other haha. Yea I’ve used 4lo a few times backing a trailer when I shouldn’t have

The air on board switch looks pretty close to factory although the light in it is always on so if your interior lights are off it will be slightly lit up. And it is ever so slightly different shade of blue but some people can't actually tell the difference. Also, this will only avoid the warranty on anything it affects directly, so if you put it in too low and then try and drive on the highway that's on you. But otherwise it will not affect warranty covering anything else.

Thanks for the info. Is the CH4x4 switch light on all of the time also?

Yes, with the way the harness is wired they all work the same.

I believe Brian did a merge of ch4x4 and aob switches for new blue with ch4x4 icon? Am I mis-remembering?
I might be tempted to do that sometime if I found myself idle enough to try.

And, done! Only took about 45 minutes, and it was my first time cracking into a 3rd gen dash. Thanks to everybody who made this happen, should make reversing in tight spots a whole lot easier with the stupid manual gear ratio.

Got mine done today as well. Took just over an hour, most of my time was spent fishing the wire to the left drivers side cubby and trying to get the stupid passenger kick panel back on.

@lapoltba by the way the visor direction sheet has a misspelling on it and some grammar errors. Not that it's important because the wiring harness is all that really matters and it's fantastic.

@daveeasa and I are aware and have corrected it for any future batches. Thank you though!

Also, thank him for the cards. They are all his work and he just shipped them to me to throw in the boxes.

My switch light is always on, not fully lit up, but how it's supposed to light up with the headlights on.
Can I cut and cap the 12v constant or is this just how it has to be?

I do not advise cutting the harness. That looks like light bleed from the bottom light. If you want no light at all it is probably better to open the switch and cut off the LEDs. They are easy to disassemble.

I have been driving with the 2LM since the first batch with the AOB new blue 2Lo switch. It is more or less invisible to me even though I use the 2LM daily.

I meant on the back of the switch, not to mess around with the harness/relay itself.
Could I cut the switch connector off, use the switch connector from the ch4x4 switch, tie red 1 & red 2 from the switch together, then connect them to red 1 that comes out of the relay, and just cap off red 2 from the relay.
That way both lights still come on when switched on.

Finally got my switch in and plugged it in. The blue of the CH4x4 switches is very bright and very blue compared to the soft blue of the oem switches. I removed the bottom LED so there’s no light on until you press and activate the switch. I’m happy with the looks and as others have stated before me the harness works flawlessly. Should extend my clutch life drastically. Thanks to @lapoltba for this mod I owe ya a beer

    Damn that is bright!

    But such a better icon.

We need AOB to make us this freaking logo in the new blue. It can't be copyrighted.

I agree. For now I can live with the light as I’ll only have to see it when in use. If I get sick of it I guess I could order the AOB switch and rob the led. The AOB logo was a deal breaker for me
