I'd do something similar. Although it would be in the form of quoting more time, not charging someone for the parts. I have no problem using customer supplied parts for a price, but I'd expect the customer to understand that since I am unaware of their condition or exact situation, I will be covering my liability. I also will not be warrantying anything.

I 100% promise you that any customer who brings their own parts and then has an issue that happens to be related to the supplied part will absolutely blame the installer. Guarantee it.

I would too, but I would do it like you say and charge more in labor. Places here straight up check the value of your parts and add a "parts misc" line with 10-20% of the value of your parts. I took my truck in to get my pro suspension installed, he quoted me $600, plus $150 for the parts. I declined, took it the VW dealer I used to work at and had one of the techs do it for $100 cash.

Look, I'm a contractor so I can do all kinds of things to get by, but not that lol. The part value part, not the cash part haha.

The AAL takes about 45 minutes and is not difficult.

I edited the original post. This is for rear add a leaf and new rear shocks only. That is why I questioned the labor cost. Thanks again.

I'm surprised in your area there aren't and offroad shops or aftermarket shops that wouldn't do it for less. If you drive it to akron, I know a great shop. I have used Steves Auto Service for years to work on my Xterra when I had new gears and a locker installed,my parts. He never adds to the cost of the work with my parts. Great guy, great shop. I can't imagine he would charge 400 to do that job.

45min? If you've done it a lot and know what you are doing. Can easily take at least an hour and a half to take your time and not fly through it

Sounds kinda high to me. Maybe a local TW member has a shop you can go to. I’m getting my set up put in next Sunday. I’m changing the shocks, struts, leafs, ucas and adding a westcott kit and a 3 leaf pack for $400 flat

Sticking a punch through the holes is a good way to line them back up. Can be quite difficult if you don't.

I do installs here in CA. I'd charge about $200-$250 tops for that work. Might look around on tacomaworld for a local guy like myself. I work from home so I don't have to charge as much as a shop.

that seems normal from what I have seen. I also ended up installing most myself because of that. You pay for the install and convenience. Does it take all day, no not if you have the right space/tools but i have seen 1000 for full install many times (F/R) so $400 or so for the rear is not uncalled for. Should not need an alignment either.

Exactly! If you find a someone near by that wants to hang out and wrench they may even just do it for some beers and talk shop. Not as much nowadays of that going on. We used to do mod day and just meet up and install stuff.
