Drl switch on sr5 (3rd gen)

Hello all! I have a 2016 sr5 and I am wanting to somehow hook up my grill lights to turn on and off with the drl switch on the stalk. I've read every post till I've got a migraine. Does anyone know how this can be done?

 

Just to clear things, your SR5 does NOT have LED DRL's correct?

 

No it does not have the leds. It has the amber light. But on the stalk switch its labeled DRL. You can turn the amber light on and off. When turn turn it further to running lights "parking lights"they dim down.

 

There is a connector named C11. It is the attachment to the steering wheel light stalk. In the SR5 model it might have a white wire that grounds the DRL circuit. Just so you know, when the stalk is turned to headlights (low) is cuts off the DRL circuit from this part of the circuit. The turn bulb has 2 filaments, one is for TURN & DRL, the other for parking/tails. This is the dim you observe. The DRL is turned OFF at the Main Body ECU at low beams.
If your SR5 has this white wire on the C11 you could use it to ground the grill lamps. I suggest fusing the grill lamps to an IGN ON source for the power side.

Sounds like it's sr5 guys are out of luck huh.

 

Turn vehicle ON, rotate steering wheel to expose a Phillip's head screw, one on each side. Remove them, then unlock the steering up n down angle lock. Remove the covers held by the screws. Take a look at the c11, it's below.
