Invading the BS thread with some not so much BS but I’m having some issues with vibration at 10-25mph ish, stops in 4wd. Seems to be driver front tire and based on the inside cv joint. I think this leads to it being the needle bearing but after looking around some my diff doesn’t look like any others I have seen online because I can’t see the needle bearings, there is just a smooth cylinder there.

Can anyone confirm that this sounds like the needle bearing? I have the ecgs bushing in order now to replace it but I am a bit worried because the needle bearing almost seems to be missing from the diff.

    Thanks for any help.

pic where you can see the outer ring outside of where I thought the needle bearing was (smooth in this pic) is busted up.

Oh we're not in the valley, thank jeebus. San Gabriel foothills, the valley is further inland. Assuming you're referring to San Fernando

The dude who slammed into my dad didn't have a driver's lisence, didn't have insurance and is suing him

No personal injury attorney will sue the dude because there's no insurance to cash out

So a diff from a manual hub truck doesn't have a needle bearing. But if you're factory 4WD that doesn't make sense in an 04. Give me a bit and I can go compare to one of mine.

Uninsured unlicensed woman crashed into the Mercedes. Luckily we had uninsured motorist coverage and we got paid out on the E320. They totaled it, but I fixed it for $300 with a junkyard bumper and trunk lid and some paint.

Well yeah but he has geico, they raised my brothers rates when he got into a 5 car pileup with a drunk driver

Geico didn't pay my brother the other dude did and it wasn't his fault

I have no doubt my dad's is going to skyrocket

So now I'm a bit confused. All my other diffs are from ADD trucks with the ECGS bushing swapped in so they aren't going to help. My 99 diff has a groove going along the inside and the 00 is smooth. I would compare it to my other 99 manual hub diff but it was heat welded to the CV axle when I bought the truck.

This one is from a 1999 V6 MT with 4.10 ratio.

This one is out of a 2000 I4 MT with 4.56 ratio. But it's been setup with a trutrac by a 4WD shop.

The slide hammer and bearing puller were useless haha. I just got the bearing races out with a punch and a sledge. I’ll go return them tomorrow.
