You could disconnect the negative battery to make sure the pump doesn't surprise you. As far as I know when you turn the truck off, the pump will come on for a few seconds like 5-10 min after key off, then like an hour later it will come on longer. This is due to the fuse tap location they use, it is hooked in to I believe the evap testing system. You could also just pull the fuse/tap. When you put the fuse back in turn the ign on and make sure the pump comes on, sometimes it can be picky with how it's installed.
