I wonder if the valving is different for the stock height ones. It makes sense for the extended and compressed lengths to be the same since the bilsteins are designed to work with stock suspension geometry.

 

The 5100s went way up in price! I paid $65 a piece last time, now I'm seeing closer to $90. 4600s appear to be around $75.

 

There's some shortage or something like that.

Agreed. I was looking at the Fox Adventure Series also. They were like $95/ea. I ended up with the 4600's OTD for $335 for all 4 corners. For the money, seemed like the best bang for the buck. If I had F-U money, I would have gone with Fox 2.5s but, realistically, I just don't need anything that high end.

 

Was that the Central Falls guy?

 

They're on my list of things I want to buy, but I'm being cheap until I know what my masonry repairs are going to run me. I'm fearful that I'll be into 5 figure territory for that.

Rattle can Pyrite Mica on a plastic bumper that gets hit with road debris? I am good at painting etc, but don't feel like having the paint flake off etc.

Were the Bilsteins on the Tacoma like the Ford Ranchos? I'm wondering if they were actual 4600's or something Bilstein made for Toyota which was a variant.

 

They had a Toyota sticker on them but they are widely called 4600's here on TW

Interesting. I thought there was something different about them. The 4600's are supposedly the same internals as the 5100, just valved differently. On paper, the 4600's seemed like a good option for me.

They added a 2.5L option to the Crosstrek "Sport" which is still anemic and disappointing!

Yeah they have a habit of leaving well-enough alone... Look at the STi. It took literally 17 years for them to bump the HP rating up to 310 from 305....

 

With almost 100% certainty I can say that your mileage is being caused by the sensor issue.

I had the same issue with my FJ. It was reading super lean on the A/F (upstream) sensors, causing it to run super duper rich, and giving me about 9-10mpg average, 12mpg if I really tried to baby it.

 

@emelianenkov Hey Alex.......just be happy that you do not have to live in the same town as that .....Well.....let's call him "ignorant idiot" from facebook with the Reg cab with the bullbar and TRD pro stickers. "Yes a Fucking bull bar will bend your frame and not protect you from trail damage but can cause more damage." I see him on the Main street of my town all the time and he tries to wave to me. sigh. He also has an whippy metal antenna on top of his truck that is like 10 feet tall.

 

He's had to find a bigger antenna to reach someone who wanted to talk to him
