Hmmm , I dunno. I'm wondering if the paint is thin, even though it never was exceptionally thick or durable to begin with, or something else. I'm still curious why that edge? You'd think there would be a slight trail of damage before it,,, I get the leading edge will get it worse, but still. Look at @Vmax540 post, the lower edge of the rear door doesn't even look like he the path the debris would take.

Get your paint corrected and then ceramic coated by a professional automotive detailer. I did this when I bought the truck over 2 years ago and honestly that's the best $500 investment I've made on my truck. I beat my truck up at least twice a month all over the country in different terrains and I can prove to you ceramic coating helps out a lot!

strange. On my 16 in BBP I ran wildpeaks for about 40k miles before I traded it in and I never had any chipping in that spot. Only a few here and there on the bottom of the front rear fender flares. I did have the factory mudflaps the whole life of the truck and ran the stock sport wheels and my tires were 265/70.
I see you are in Pittsburgh as well.
Ceramic coatings are great and all. I do them to every car I have. My 16 was coated in Optimum Opti-gloss and now my 21 is coated in Gtechniq CLS/EXO. Detailing is one of my big hobbies so I am always using the stuff. It will not protect you against rock chips. It will help with some light swirls from improper washing and such but its not some iron coat that will protect the paint from abuse. It is great on its ability to shed water and dirt though.

Shopping this morning a new gen3 toyota parked next to me. This owner must of had some similar issues with the larger mud tires that were installed. These tires stuck out about 3-4'' past the fenders. Whatever they were throwing back was blasting the paint off the side of this new red truck. It even had mud flaps, but they weren't effective enough being the tires were so wide. Can't believe some people can be that brain dead to do something like that to a new truck.

I cant stand that look. when I see someone with a wheel setup that the tires are sticking out past the body. I just shake my head with how they can think the stupid roller skate they created looks good. Looks like a cheap hunk of junk no matter what model truck it is.

You should have seen the size of the lugs these tire had....gotta be one hell of a noisy ride. Truck had every aftermarket option on it you should think of, except what seemed a lift. Imo, it made the truck look kind of ridiculous.
