 I was just changing my oil when I noticed my K&N CAI air filter was laying in the "cold air well" unattached to the CAI! Great, last time I was under the hood was about 2 months ago(I've been busy), so who knows how long I've been running filter free. After further inspection, the MAF sensor screws had backed way out and it was about to fall off too! I guess my question is, does anybody know of anything I can do to try to clean out all the crap that probably got in the engine. Anybody with these filters, check that thing regularly. My guess is that with the cold, hot, cold, hot, they can work themselves loose. I guess I just can't have nice things.

Thanks for the heads up, I check mine when I check my oil level. I give everything a good shake.

I just had mine put on last week and I am getting a loud rattling noise under the hood. I think it is the pipe that goes through the fire wall is vibrating. I'm not lovin it so far. I might try moving the filter away from the wall just a bit.

If you still have the charcoal filter that should have blocked most of the larger stuff (not sure if you have to eliminate with the k&n fipk or not). If the trucks' still running fine.. I wouldn't fret too much just keep an eye on it. I try to (not always but more often than not) check my oil level every oil change... also helps give a quick once over while I'm there. It's a wise 40 second investment that's already wasted waiting on the pump.

I have the exact same issue. It rattles against the box. I was going to try to put something under that area to control the vibration.

I dont care for it either yet. The service rep at the dealer had ordered the wrong one for another truck so he sold it to me and installed it for $100 so it was hard not to take it. I think without doing the exhaust at the same time you wont see much if any gain in HP or gas mileage.

Damn, at least I'm not the only one with the problem. I bought mine on ebay for $160. I am going to tweek it a bit, but if I can't fix the rattling issue, I am going another route. I'll let you know if I fix the problem

You can't have nice things if you don't have 1 MINUTE every week or two to look under your hood
