It really is. The cost of the kit is quite a bit for what you get. Where it really doesn’t make sense is in the pre-load spacer. He could have just sold a nice top mount spacer and lift blocks but somehow he figured out that giving the spring more pre-load w/ the small spacer gives it lift and proper ride quality. From the material and craftsmanship of the spacer, Coil seat, leaf block and u-bolts, plus the washer for the bump-stop. All of it is really nice quality. Not cheap crap. If you where local I’d help you put it in. However, it should only take you 3-4hrs. With properly torquing everything and adding loc-tite to the right areas. However, this kit is designed to fit a 285 with stock wheels. They will fit and work just fine but...they will stick inside the fender wells. How much? Well, more than I personally like. I like a stance that sits really flush or just a tad outside of the fenders. And yes, If you want your stock Pro wheels to move out a bit your going to buy Spyder Trax spacers. (Don’t use anything else) And than... You’ll need a Cab Mount Chop. I just used the BAMF plates and they are really nice. Have fun.

I am in the same situtation as well, the only "specialty toyota" shop in town wants to charge 1600 for the westcott parts, alignment and install.

Than go to a Non-Toyota-Specialty Shop. There have got to be independent repair shops in your area that do good work. Maybe Toyotas are not their specialty. They may also have no clue what the Westcott Kit is but any mechanic that wrenches for a living should easily be able to do 10 minutes of research than do a nice clean installation with minor tools required. As for the Alignment, if the independent shop doesn’t offer it, it won’t hurt to drive it across town to an alignment shop. I just paid $80 for mine but I assume the price will range from $80-$120 or maybe more.

I finally got my westcott kit installed last weekend. Found a shop to do install and alignment for $450 plus tax. I originally bought the kit during Black Friday and paid $350 for it. So grand total just over $800. Ordered some toyo tires for it also

Copied and pasted from my build thread...

Was able to work on the truck this weekend. Because the truck is a pro and wanted to use the OEM Fox shocks it came with, I went with and Installed Westcott Designs lift in the front and Icon Progressive AAL in the rear. Also went this route because if I go any higher, I wouldn’t be able to park in the garage at work. Did the install over 2 days, 10 hours total

Here’s the front and rear lift I used

Started with the rear on Saturday.

Had to cut rear clip and grind off the rivet since it was in the way of the AAL. Sorry forgot to take a photo of the AAL installed, but I was able to complete it.

*Note - I ended up trimming the ubolts about 1/2” because my deep socket couldn’t reach to torque it down. Instructions called for 120Ft/lb to be torqued but i had such a hard time, even doing it progressively. Got as high as 105ft/lb and called it a night.

    Installed the Front on Sunday...

No press or bench vise? No problem! Improvise with CMU blocks.

Spring compressed to put back top hat..

Cleaned up and strut back in the truck!

    This was height before....

This is height After....Monday out for alignment!

Over all I am pleased with this set up. Truck seems more planted and I can even hang turns and the body roll has been minimized a lot with this lift. I gained exactly 1.5” all around front and rear. Set my caster to 2.6-2.7 since ill be going with bigger tires.

Curious for those running 285/70/17s what offsets are you guys running with Westcott. I hear the closer to 0 offset the better but -12 shouldn’t be an issue . See a few with scs so -10s with no issues after scrolling through

Just thought I would write in to this thread, as I did plenty of research before deciding on the westcott lift.
I’ve had it in for a few weeks, ( the truck is 6 weeks old)
Very happy with the lift, I did opt to use the ICON AAL in the rear, instead of the block from Westcott.
The ride is slightly stiffer than stock, but still has great road manners, and as far as off road, I’m very happy with the performance.
Thanks to everyone on this thread for all there inputs, yes I screwed up the post, the above pics are suppose to be in this reply!

Anyone have any issues with the Westcott? I called a place for an install and they said the ride is a bit rough, because it puts the spring under pre-load? I didn't think that was the case with this kit, I thought it was to avoid using a spacer. Then again, I'm still learning about these suspensions.

No issues for me. To me feels a lot better than stock.

The westcott kit loads the springs with the new perches, and lifts with the spacers. So yeah, it will make the ride a bit stiffer.

Done! I'm ordering mine. Did you need an alignment after? Did you add caster?

So if I go with an AAL in the rear i just need to order the front kit right? Was looking at the rear bump stop spacer with the westcott kit. How does that not make your shock or strut over extend? Wont it be extended an extra 1"? Maybe I'm missing something?

I went with westcott in front and rear with progressive AAL from icon as I didn’t want to use a block.

alignment will be required and set my caster to 2.7.

I didn’t do a spacer in the rear. Haven’t seen anyone do so didn’t bother. Maybe someone can chime in on that.

Also following the spring thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...d-in-a-spring-upgrade-for-front.643212/page-3

So back to being confused. The debate being if you go with the Eiback spring and AAL you could run a 200lb bumper/winch combo, and still get some lift right? The other problem being they've been talking about those springs for over a year. Haha. Anyone run the wescott kit with a bumper and winch? I figured that would make the stock suspension dive under braking.

Also used to live in Manoa Valley about 20 years ago. Cool palce.

Wow nice! We’re getting hit with flooding rains right now.

not sure about the dive. I’m sure any weight will make the truck sag a little. Just have to test and see. Hopefully someone with experience will let you know. I was also counting on eibach upgrade but it’s taking too long. Also westcott gave exactly 1.5” lift. Slightly more than what eibach claims.

I've got a set of test springs from Eibach on my 2018 TRD Pro. Exactly 1.5" of lift in the front. The 2020 TRD Pro that Eibach had in for testing had 1.29" of lift in the front. There was also a 2019 in, but I'm not sure of the outcome. Can't speak for what the production run will look like from Eibach for either 2017-2019 or the 2020+ springs, or what the timeline is, but so far I'm digging the lift and the ride. Much more stable in turns and feels more firm, but not in a bad way at all. I always thought the stock TRD Pro was slightly soft and mushy on road and had way too much body roll.

Yeah I heard about the mudslides and stuff, hope you guys are okay. I was there in 1998. Saw some massive waves on Jan 28th, Big Wednesday. Went to see the Eddie at Waimea Bay, but it was cancelled since the waves were too out of control. They had an imax crew filming at Log Cabins though. It was insane.

You think you would be able to add a bumper and winch with the added compression spring rate (not sure what you call that)? Maybe I'll do the Westcott and then can re-evaluate if the Eiback springs ever come to market. I run the 285/75/R16 with no issues so far, but I'm sure if I get some more suspension travel I'll have a little rubbing at full compression and if I do get the bumper soon, I'm 90% sure it will be an issue.

If they need another Eibach socal test mule let me know. Haha
