Is this a good deal

Took my tacoma 2012 dc trd 45,000 to a toyota dealer looking to trade. they offered me $20,000 on a 2021 4runner sr5 premium. It this a good price or should I try for more? Thanks.

 

I’m in Alaska where prices are in the fantasy world for some reason but even here that would seem like a good offer from a dealer.

 

Why would you even want too trade in a 2012 with the best body style ever that's barely even broken in ?
Keep your 2012,newer is not always better.

 

The dealer will put your truck on their lot tomorrow for $26,000 and sell it in a day with your low millage

 

You could get way more if you sell private. Have you tried carvana or carmax? You can get an online quote in like 2 minutes.

That's some really low mileage. Just throw it up privately for fun and I bet you could sell it fast.

 

Well it’s not a 3rd Gen and it has pretty much the same 4.0 as the 2nd Gen trucks?
I say, it’s probably a better option than the 3rd Gen. I would rock a new 4Runner - if some one bought it for me. Lol

I don't need a truck now. Bought my wife a 2020 4runner last year and I love it. When compared to my 2012 the 4runner rides much better and interior sound level is much lower, her 4runner is averaging 17-19 mpg for Pa winter weather. I don't want to sell outright and miss the lower tax I would have to pay. Right now I am just looking.

Are you going to finance the balance? If so, your loan amount is all that matters. Set the amount you're willing to finance and stick to it. Let them figure out their books on the 4Runner and what they want to make on your truck.

 

So they are offering 20k for your truck? What is OTD for 4Runner?

 

Just get the 4runner if you have no need for the Tacoma,you will then owe over $20,000 in payments after the trade for the 4runner,something to think about.

 

My truck and $22,300 otd but at this time not one a on the lot. They wanted me to put money down to hold a future 4runner. I countered asking for 2500 more, wait and see.

 

O.P. be firm with your offer of $22,500 for your truck in trade,the dealer can get there money back on it,and they know it.

 

I always wanted a 4runner also,but no way in hell am I paying $20,000 more plus interest just for a little smoother ride.
