Old Man Emu setups on 1st gens

I’m sure it could. Wheelers told me that having a bumper with 882s will compress down farther it would 883s (even though they’re a shorter spring, the spring rate is heavier). So they basically told me the opposite. I’ve even seen people with 881s with bumper installed. So I think to retain the most amount of lift while having bumper is the 883s

 

Also depends exactly how heavy the bumper is you’re using. You might be able to get away using 882s with a light tube bumper. Just a thought though, I don’t have experience doing that.

 

I don't know what to believe man. There's so much contradicting information out there regarding suspension setups

 

I feel it man. Worst case try them both out or pull the trigger on some Kings and you can adjust the them for the lift you want.

 

Info I was given by wheelers was if I added a winch to the ARB, if I wanted to maintain the current stance I have now - go with the 882's.

If I add a winch, I'll be swapping in 882s and the 881s will head to the part bin.

In my opinion based on what I've read here on the forum as well as the info from Wheelers, yeah.

If you're debating 883s, definitely do your research. Not just here but as many sources as you can find. Sorry, I know it's not the answer you're looking for.

Call ARB USA, ask them directly, I would.

 

I'm going to run the 882's without a bumper or winch for a while so I'll see how it feels before all that extra weight. I could always swap them for 883's afterwards if the 882's are too low or something.

 

Seems like finding recommendations for ex cabs and dc is easy, it's the mention of single cabs I've not seen. Can't be much different from an ex cab I wouldn't think, at least for front springs

 

I don't believe they're much different either. Extended cabs are just a tad bit heavier.

Yeah it seems you guys get the short end of the stick when it comes to information. Maybe because there's less 4x4 SC owners in comparison to EX cab and DC

 

I'm sure that's the case, but not a big deal, if I ever get around to doing it I'll post my findings

 

My 881s put my DC PreRunner about level with the dakar leaf packs, but with a camper shell on the back, there's a barely noticeable heads up stance now. I'll probably do an AAL in the future to correct it. If I had run 882s it would be all bro-lean, which isn't my style at all.

Sorry I'm offering advice from almost the heaviest version of our trucks. The single cabs are a rare breed. A V6, even moreso. Congrats to who brought it up on a killer truck!

It needed the AAL though. Cap, rack, couple of items in rack boxes, weight from items in bed - yeah it was well over 200+ additional weight.

Some will say it's fine but I could see the difference and that's what matters in the end.

Kurt and crew have been dealing OME and building trucks with the product for a long, long time. (Kurt also ran a DC 1st gen on 882s with bumper and winch for quite a while.)
I'm back and forth on 881/882 as well. I have a Front Runner rack on an ARE CX shell and a pretty lightweight bed at the moment but going to do the AAL and if I do my bumper and winch at the same time I'll probably just throw 882 on from jump. Don't really want to re-do.
