I am pulling the trigger on my exhaust today. I’ve had mbrp and although the sound was good it killed my low end because it’s 3”. I do finally have OV installed and it is running beautifully. So I am looking at Gibson, a bit cheaper in price, Borla, or Trd. I don’t want nor expect performance increase, just exhaust note. All input would be great

I have the Borla s type and I love it! Nice mellow growl and no drone at cruising speeds on the hwy. it’s similar tone to Trd but a bit louder.

I went w/ the TRD exhaust and if it were any louder I would put the stock back on. But I am soon to be 56 (25 at heart)...LOL

    my

My buddy is 38 and regrets that he installed the trd, says it’s getting annoying now. Been almost a year for him.

I've been eyeing the Borla S Type but was wondering how are the clamps holding up between pipes? I've had an aftermarket exhaust system on my previous vehicles and over time they would start coming loose causing an exhaust leak. Nothing serious but annoying. Just wondering if it would be better to just weld the joints together.

Mine will be tuned next month and you just made me realize it may get even louder....Damn you! :frusty:

Good thing I held onto the stock exhaust...LOL

I use to drive a 1970 Z-28 Camaro when I was a teenager and I don't mind a bit of 'grumble' when I step on it, at all. I'm not a fan of constant cabin noise though.

Exactly. I am 34 going on 90 and I prefer my truck to be nice and quiet while cruising. I even dynamat my nova from top to bottom and front to back. I can def still hear stuff but makes the stereo sound better and barely any road noise just motor and exhaust

No issues here, been a year for me. The steel still looks brand new by the way, excellent product. The black tip is starting to look a bit shitty though, need to take care of it pretty soon.

I didn’t notice any exhaust note increase after the OV tune. It’s only been a week

Yep, my Borla got louder with the tune, which I actually like.

Sometimes I do wish it was a bit louder though. I can’t wait for warmer weather so I can drive with open windows and listen to my exhaust:D

sortof stock. 6112/5160, pro wheels and a tune.
so i had ov tune and gibson. i also have a dclb. sound is good, but the clamps are trash- use them to get it lined up and then weld it. mines getting tigged right now. gibson seemed to help the bottom end alittle. i was also running an unsettled premium tune too, so ideally it should have gotten even batter after two tanks.

new level motorsports had the gibson on sale also. it was “stainless” aka cheap 409, which is fine. better than aluminized.

Ye as I’m on the new stock regular thx tune. I haven’t put my mbrp back on since the tune but being 3” is just not agreeable with the Tacoma. Sounds great ran fine just killed low end. I’ll check level motor sports. Thanks

I have a question about the trd 4.0 v6 performance exhaust. Ive been eyeing it up for awhile and I found it on line for under $400 shipped but I would rather have a black tip is there a option to get a black tip? I know I could cut it off and get one welded on but rather not do that
