I went out to my Tacoma this morning to move it and found the plastic cover for the front camera laying on the seat.

It seems to have fallen off during the night for some reason. I left the passenger front and rear windows open a bit, but not a lot.

Nothing missing, no evidence that anyone was inside.

We're in a rural area and the truck was parked way down at the bottom of the driveway.

The windshield was replaced back last fall, but the cover has been fine since then.

Clips aren't broken and it snapped right back on.

    Just seems weird.

The front camera that is part of the collision avoidance/lane departure system. Sits in front of the review mirror.

behind the rear view there’s a camera sensor system that’s used for....lane keep? That big ass plastic shroud you can’t really see behind the mirror from the driver seat.

finally warming up, probably the first time the truck warmed up a lot in the sun enough to melt the last of the adhesive holding it up after replacing the windshield.

From what I could see, it has four plastic clips that snap into position. Maybe the two lower ones weren't seated properly by the technician and the heat had something to do with it. I saw no trace of glue.

My plastic cover started falling off after the windshield was replaced too. One of the plastic clips was bent when it first fell off and has now completely broken off. Did you have to replace the plastic cover?

I've had a nightmare with this piece. I've finally given up after 2 weeks of "solutions" and just super glued the clips up.

My windshield was cracked, and I had to have it replaced. Cue the nightmare that is this piece of plastic. It fell off multiple times, tried shoring up the clips to make it tighter, but it seems like the windshield was installed to high or something, so the mount for the plastic shroud was pressing hard into the headliner and it was pushing it down so hard it just falls off. The shop "field modified" the piece to try to hide it, which pissed me off because it was an insurance job on a brand new vehicle. I just figure now, it doesn't need to come off again unless the windshield is being replaced, and if the next shop breaks it, there's a part number right inside of it, and insurance will hopefully cover the new one. Lmao

The windshield being installed too high explains the plastic cover not fitting back on correctly. I tried tape but that didn't hold in the Louisiana humidity. I'll try super-glue. Thanks!
