I'm in the same boat with the wait. I won't get mine for awhile yet either, but some of that is because I had Marv use his audio dealer to source my 13W7 and that's taking longer than anticipated. I hate bothering Marv too, so I'm trying to be patient. But it's rough, like a kid on Christmas morning waiting for that shipping notice...

I'm afraid if I carpet it I'll screw it up. I can paint, but I am no good at lining up carpet. I've seem some truly shit carpet work, and I'd hate to sully his workmanship with a hack carpet job (because I am crap at carpeting).

You and me both. I do, however, have a local shop who did one of my other boxes (which currently sits in storage wrapped in garbage bags). I’m actually tempted to paint mine with some of the fancy bed liner paint stuff.

Carpeting really isn’t that bad. There’s a ton of videos out there for tips and tricks. You just use 3m adhesive to do it and then a sharp blade to cut with. I did the seams by overlapping and then cutting both sections at once. Then they line up perfectly. Also, put all the seams at the bottom and back and any screw ups are hidden anyways.

Below is a picture of what I did. First time doing carpet. The backside looks horrendous, but no one will know except me. Plus, I didn’t carpet the whole backside of the amp rack because I wanted to be able to screw down my wires and stuff.

Diregard the trim I screwed up by the sub box. I’m an idiot. Lol. I’ll probably try to find a replacement trim piece and redo it at some point. Even if I don’t, I never open that side anyways, so I’ll never see it again more than likely. C671B340-8B94-4939-BBD4-2474D5E096A6.jpg

Here’s the backside. Yeah, I know. Haha. Like I said, it won’t ever be seen so it doesn’t really matter

I saw a couple pictures of boxes with the bed liner in it. I wasn’t a fan of the way it looked. Carpet looked much cleaner to me. But it’s all up to the individual.

To be honest it's been several years since I did that particular box... So I can't remember exactly how many coats I used.. But, Probably two or three.
However, I'd say the best way to know your preferred look, is to utilize a scrap piece if you have it available or the backside of one..

    *Sanding
You will want to sand it all over and with the grain, not against...
When determining which grit best follows the one just used, remember that the next grit should be no more than about 50 percent higher than the one before it; 100, 150, and 220, for example.
Now, when should you stop sanding? Fine grits close up the pores of the wood, so if you sand to too fine a grit, less finish will soak into the surface. Generally, if you’re using an oil or clear finish, you can stop sanding at 180 grit. Continue on to 220 grit if you’re using a stain or dye. (These colorants tend to amplify swirl or scratch marks.) Sanding to 320 grit creates a glasslike surface, but also one that accepts little stain, if that’s your goal.

    *Staining
Some woods react different to stain.

I forgot which brand stain I used, but pretty sure it was called "Ebony"... I cleared it with a gloss lacquer, probably three coats or so... You could use something else tho.
    ...

If you were to simplify, I'd say probably just sand it well with about 220, since you won't be removing anything like previous stain or what not... And after sanding use a tack rag/cloth, get all the dust off.... Then use a applicator~like a pad or old t shirt and evenly apply the stain, and once you coat your box, wipe it off right after... Then repeat until to desired look..

Hope that helps a little... I'm Probably not the best at saying things this way.

I noticed yours, looks good.. That's the only other one I've seen stained similar.

Marv did such a nice job on the box that it seemed almost a crime to cover it with carpet or vinyl.
It'll be fairly well protected behind the seats just have to wipe the dust off it time to time.

A little bit smaller than the previous enclosure but it fits snug enough.

Nothing crazy. 2 Kicker CompRT 12’s in a down blow box in my 02 ext cab. Highly under powered running a Kicker KXA800.5 to the subs at 2ohms and powering my mods/highs. Now I need to get off my ass and make it pretty. Lol

I replaced my T500-1 Rockford Fosgate with a 1000-1bd. Wired to 2 ohms. Birthsheet says 1675 watts, though I know they're not completely accurate.

Any Mods? One. Maybe two, tops...
My setup right now is one JL Audio 13TW5v2 with birch Mr Marv sealed box. Hits pretty hard and tight. Pretty happy with the setup. Not bad with ZERO room behind the back seats of a Taco...
