Thanks. I just don’t want to do a cmc to fit 285s though they sure look good. I use this as my daily driver so if I go that big I know my mpg will take a big hit. Any pics you can post with what you have now with the 265/70s.

Consider re-gearing the rear end then.

I'm tuned and have 275s and a front bumper. Went from 19 to 16. I was expecting it but didn't touch anything else and it drives nice. Really glad I didn't do 285s.

A CMC is not necessarily a requirement for all 285 setups... Wheel width, offset, backspacing, which 285 tires are chosen as they have minor size differences, which UCAs and ETC... Lots of factors. But its always good to EXPECT to need a CMC. I will be getting a CMC whether i need it or not, and likely before i even install my 285s.

Weight is more of a deciding factor for fuel economy loss. If your 275s weigh more than my 285s you will take a greater hit. The 285s i got for this build are SL rated open country at3 toyos.... Weigh in at 46 pounds, and thats a big reason i chose them. My last 285s weighed 60 pounds. And the skinny 255/80s i was looking at were also over 50. And if i couldnt save wight going skinny, might as well get the tires that can house the wheels i really want. 9" width on skinnies doesnt work well LOL

Im also tuned. Loving the Kruiser 4.0 tune.

Decided to run the stage 2 over the stage 1. ECGS bushing, diff drop, taco lean spacer, sway bar relocation kit, everything is ready to go.

What I liked about Headstrong is that they had a complete kit for newbs like myself. If I go some other place for it (due to stock status) I just need to had a 1/4" top place spacer and then on other sites is the "HS 3-leaf add-a-leaf" just a add-a-leaf or is it called something else?

Thanks. Weight difference is what I’m looking at. Right now the stock tires weigh 37 lbs. I’m looking at the
SCORPION ALL TERRAIN PLUS in 265/70/17
that are only 41 lbs so only 4 pound more. I drive 85 miles daily so I don’t want to sacrifice mileage for looks. I have a 2x4 so not going off-road anytime soon.

Do you need a taco lean spacer with and adjustable coil over? Couldn’t you just crank that side up a bit more?

I skipped the lean spacer, diff drop and sway bar relocation. Didn't need any but did need 3 degree shims.

Tires were just mounted this morning and so far I’ve yet to rub! I do think some trimming is needed especially for OffRoad use but I’m definitely excited about this combination overall.

Yes, until/unless you max them out for height... According to eibach the stage 2 should be able to be set at max height without ruining ride quality..

But I ordered the spacer when I planned on running stage one.

Sway bar relocate just gives a bit more room to work and comes with the stage 2 kit.. diff drop is to help with the CV angles... Both for the front...

Shims are for the rear. How much lift in the rear did you do? What issues did you encounter that made you add them in?

Two inch. Had a tiny vibration from 19-25. Really could have just lived with it but that fixed it.

Vibrations cause issues. Better/cheaper to fix it early than make the repairs later.

Got a link to the shims you used?

Would it be a waste of money or unnecessary to get aftermarket UCAs if I have the kit installed on the lowest notch (2" of lift)?

Replacing a part with a better built part is never technically a waste... But unnecessary, that depends.

My alignment guy has a lifted Tacoma and a lifted 4runner, he does alignments for a few different shops that install lifts... Very cool guy, he says it's unnecessary unless you want your alignment set custom, outside of vehicle specs, or you are lifted 3 inches or higher, otherwise he's never had any issues getting alignments in the green according to the vehicle specs with less than 3 inches of lift.

Also, Some aftermarket UCAs will sit differently and you may rub them, even if you wouldn't rub the stock arms.... But sometimes you'll rub elsewhere with stock arms but not aftermarket arms... Because you can adjust the alignment more.

What, or if, you will rub depends on many factors... Wheel width, BS, offset, tire selection, vehicle weight, what wrist your watch sits on, favorite band... Etc.
