    Like, so many.
In fairness, the stock ones are very good.

    Define best?
    Performance wise=stock,
    sound wise without loosing performance=TRD.
Most others, probably like TRD but less $$.
What some /many people call CAI, (cone filter in engine bay) = simply shit.

basically on stock engine there are no performance gains to be had from airbox changes.

CAI is not necessarily cone shaped.

Stock, cold air intakes and K&N style filters are total garbage. Do nothing, help nothing, but do a good job of letting a ton of crap into your intake that should have been filtered out.

True CAI is definitely not coned shape. (Unless completely shielded in a box). Read what I wrote again.

I don’t have to. Your definition of a CAI is right there in bold.

    have a good day buddy.

Just cause these threads are always a complete shit show, technically just about any intake, regardless of boxed or not is a cold air intake under driving conditions.

Air flow enters both through ports intended for the intake as well as through the grill and underneath the vehicle. This air will be colder than the air at the manifold. Both due to movement of the air and the fact that the ambient air will be colder than the ambient temp of the engine and intake manifold.

Non heat shielded intakes will be more subject to heat soak, but once youre moving its moot point.

The stock intake tubing though, utilizes resonators to keep it quiet, which can affect laminar airflow and increase cavity size. Vacuum will be reached at a different rate, air will move at a different velocity. You can argue the pros and cons of this, but it is most likely why people always mention better throttle response, and likely plays a large part in seeing some sort of power increase.

Fun thing is, people that have aftermarket intakes and have had their vehicle dyno'd with said intakes can show results to people who dont have aftermarket intakes and dont have dyno results. Despite being able to show actual measurable increases in power, even if marginal, the latter will insist they "dont increase power".

Disclaimer, while I have dyno'd multiple vehicles in the past and seen power increases from aftermarket intakes (on every one), I haven't done so with a Tacoma. Nonetheless, anyone stating they do nothing without a dyno is as accurate as anyone stating they make power, with out a dyno.

This should be the first and last post on any future intake threads.

that’s NOT my definition, that’s the definition of many people that have it wrong. If you read the actual words written again there is absolutely no way you could come to the conclusion that it’s my definition.

You included that part, not everyone else. When people say CAI, I never see them referring to just the “cone” type.
Look at the other hundred threads, no one has specifically said cones are the only CAI types. But, you referred to cones specifically.
Like I said, have a good day little buddy. I know I am.

Yep! Maybe even better, trd intake comes with the resonator box, which defeats the whole purpose IMO.

just get a dry drop in filter. dont get held up by "cold air intake" gimmicks .they serve no purpose .
