Wired only. There are many threads about the CPLAY2Air device with the Entune 3.0 radios that we’re all using in these retrofits. Trying it out is next on my list. :)

I see. So in order to use Apple Maps (or google maps? Maybe), phone has to be connected, correct?

    Nice music choice too.

Yes, for any Carplay or Android Auto feature the phone must be connected with USB.

Supposedly with the CPLAY2Air device it all works wirelessly but I can’t speak from personal experience yet.

Shout out to @IcemanPNW, @cemented and auto harness!!!

I was able to install a 2019 Sienna 86140-08190 headunit and get it working on my 2019 TRD OR. So far I've had no issues I migrated my XM radio over so my niece can listen to radio Disney when she hangs with me, apple car play works like a dream, and my bass is better which surprised me. The only thing would be no NAV, or HD weather via the head unit but that was expected and I don't need it. Everything else works as it should! So stoked!

    Not enough
Good morning - I am curious if I have to get a JBL headunit for this conversion since my 2019 Tacoma OR which has the JBL speakers? If not will the sound change with a non JBL headunit? Thanks for all the hard work you all have put into figuring this out!

That would be correct JBL with JBL only.

What harness did you get? I have a 2019 JBL unit and want to make the same swap that you did.

Cannot do the same swap as me you require part# 86140-08210.

then you would need to contact Auto harness house for the wires and apple CarPlay USB.

What are the chances you, or anyone here still have the factory knobs are willing to part with them? Just picked up a 2020 head unit that is missing a knob.

I picked up a Sienna unit 86140-08210. I am talking with AutoHarness and they mentioned that this unit will not work with my current JBL amp in the tacoma. Has anyone else ran into this issue and can you confirm this?

    Thanks!

Interesting… That I did not know, did they tell you what you’d need to replace it with?

Or would you also need to retrofit a Sienna amp?
