My new '21 OR Pro, or O Pro R, or Pro OR...?

So I made the jump to a new TRD Pro with the 6MT. It took a while to get my hands on one and I had to make a road trip to get it. There were delays as well with the dealer transport, and it was around 7 weeks from the time the deal was done until I got it yesterday. It was an ordeal, but nobody's fault... just circumstances beyond control.

I was slightly surprised when I saw it, however. They sent me a courtesy pic a couple days ago of the front of the truck. But when I got there to pick it up, I discovered I have a TRD Pro (it's definitely a PRO) with the TRD 4x4 OFF ROAD emblems at the back, on both sides lol.

As they pulled it up yesterday, I had a split second panic attack thinking it was an OR and I totally got taken/didn't get the truck I thought I was getting. Sales dude was like, "yeah, I didn't even give it a thought, I can't explain that".

I don't really care...it's fine and I'll leave them on. Just think it's funny more than anything. Anyone else ever see that?

 

Yeah there’s been a few threads on this. There was one yesterday from a dude who got a new Pro LR with those on it

Saw it today. Dealer had two TRD Pro Tacoma’s. The 6MT had the TRD Off Road sticker on both sides of the bed. Had the TRD Pro emblem on the door. The Automatic transmission Tacoma had the TRD Pro sticker on the bed along with the TRD Pro emblem on the doors.

 

Is there any explanation for why Toyota slaps the Off-Road stickers on PRO trucks?

This thread is still young, I'm sure someone more experienced will come along with a technical sticky link on why this is.

 

If the MTs have the OR bedside and the ATs have the PRO bedside, I’m assuming they only consider Pros with MTS and CC real pros. Sorry MT Pros, you have a glorified OR.

 

MT guys don’t get JBL, TPS, and now no proper badging...

Pretty sure there is no JBL for US MT taco’s though, which is pretty sad.

After listening to the stock radio for a couple days, the JBL upgrade isn’t all that, honestly.

 

Mine had the OR decals. Came off the next day...

 

They started building Pros in Mexico and they mistakenly put OR stickers on the Pros and nobody caught it.

 

I kinda like the look!

 

The OR stickers peel off super easy if you do it when they’re still pretty new.

I am pissed about the JBL!!! The price that we have to pay to row our own gears. I took a hair dryer and Goo Begone to the bed stickers. The looked tacky.

 

Funny you mention that - same thing just happened to me on Friday. Got a black 6MT Pro and when I went to take delivery the thing had the OR stickers on it with the TRD Pro badging on the door. Dealer had no clue why the factory put the OR stickers on it. I had their detailer remove them before I drove off. I thought it was just a weird fluke with mine but guess not!

Supposedly some of the '21 Pros were made in San Antonio and the newer ones in Mexico.

 

My TRD Pro did not have the bed sticker on it. It just had the cool looking TRD Pro badge on the door. I’m glad because I think all of the bed stickers are cheesy.
