I plan on doing some camping, offroading on some of the easier parts of Joshua Tree to get acquainted with the truck, perhaps we shall cross paths!

The only other accessory I have considered at the dealer is the locking remote tailgate but I have read mixed reviews. I feel like anything else I can do on my own at a later date or get a better deal on something non-OEM.

California is out of control all the local dealerships including dealerships in the Pacific Northwest wanted on average 5k above MSRP. They were willing to negotiate on a trd off-road but after I included options I wanted it was more than a pro. I did what other members here did. I shopped online and found a 2021 Tacoma trd pro in magnetic grey with 3 miles. I got it for almost 3 k under msrp. $45600 to be exact plus tax.

the only issue I had was after I bought it in Indiana waiting for a driver to pick up my truck from Indiana and deliver it to me in Los Angeles. It was after Christmas. I got impatient so I flew out there and drove her back home. It was awesome. We saw snow, ice, rain . She went thru her mini trials going home LOL. I had to go to the dmv locally to register it and do a smog check. Minor annoyances but totally worth it for me given the savings in my area.

Agree, savings are totally worth it, great job.

For me, even though MSRP is close to a PRO as my truck, LB was a must and Pro doesn't come with it. Oh well. I will envy the Pro people, while I carry stuff in my bed :D :p

    Enjoy the truck my friend

Yes, but it's only $50 visual smog inspection, not a tailpipe emissions measurement inspection. That's the way it worked in 2018 when I bought a Camry from Kendall Toyota in Eugene, OR and drove it to me home near Sacramento.

Has anyone dealt with dealerships in SoCal lately through the Costco program?
I’ve already talked to 2 dealerships who say they are excluding Tacoma’s off the program
Longo Toyota and puente hills toyota are the only two who say “well show you the Costco price sheet” down here in socal

A northern Calif. dealer offered a Costco discount of $1,571 on a base model double cab 4 cyl, but then added $695 for "Paint Protection Package" so the actual discount was only $876.coMtIP-2.jpg

Congrats on your new Pro; you probably purchased an auto... There was no dealing anywhere in the country with a manual. I would have gone with a long bed if it was offered, but I am quite happy with my Pro.

I had one dealer in San Diego say any TRD model was excluded from Costco pricing. He showed me their pricing contract on his computer, it only had SR and SR5 models.

I only found one dealer that would honor Costco pricing but they would only do it with trucks on the lot. They would not order one.

And while the pricing was decent, it wasn’t what is was before Covid. I had seen reports that pre-Covid it was something like $500 under invoice. They changed it to $1500 over invoice.

I played the waiting game with them for 4 months, goes back to before Thanksgiving, and the model+options mix I wanted never appeared on their lot.

I just ordered a loaded ORDC MT through Minnesota dealer with Costco program. With Toyota incentives I got almost $4k off MSRP. Sounds like it's definitely a regional thing.

I used the costco program to "order" mine. Should be here in a month or so.
I posted my deal details back a couple of pages.
The costco dealer beat the best non-costco price by a couple of hundred bucks.
Plus I'll get a $200 credit at the dealer toward accessories (part of costco program). Which will go toward bed mat, bed lights and possibly mats.

I was going to do the same thing with the Costco $200. I think you get 50% off accessories with it up to $200.

As a member of Costco since it was price club, I never found Costco car price to be compellingly competitive or really that low . It was great if you didn’t want hassle and liked a ok fixed price deal.

dealers actually set whatever they want, and call it “Costco price”

    Ymmv

“Another drawback to the program is that, while its prices are solid, it rarely offers the best price you can find. After all, Costco can't control the price that dealerships list for each car before applying the discount, so dealers can easily adjust the original price to make the discounts less damaging to their profits.”

My understanding is that it is linked to invoice price which does not vary between dealerships except perhaps factory shipping. Costco negotiates a contract with the participating dealer, which varies, dealer to dealer, state to state. My deal was $250 below invoice, which was a good place to start. This discount is in addition to any factory incentives, which in my case was a $1,000 rebate. It also allowed for 20% off dealer add-ons, of which I wanted NONE, because they are a ripoff even at 20% off. As it turns out, after shopping around, no dealer came close to it, and did not want to special order off of their allocation either, as the Costco dealer did. The Costco participating dealer can exclude certain models, but if they are participating they cannot vary from the contract. Invoice price keeps out fiddling with MSRP and “added value” pricing.

Wish I had found this thread earlier. I’m on a tight budget as this being my first truck. Live in OK, narrowed what I wanted for me and the wife to a SR 4x4 V6. Found some in AZ for 31-32k.

Went to our local dealer to trade our compact SUV and we ended up making an order for the same type of trim and avoid traveling to AZ. $32,650 was the final price with dealer fees, etc. Is that good? (Taxes are still due when I transfer my tag )

heres a link to a truck 99% like the one I will get delivered at the end of the month.

% off the factory window sticker MSRP price is what counts, not including the factory rebate or various dealer added products like paint protection film. You have not told us what the window sticker price is and what you agreed to pay.
