I have light racing, which I’m pretty sure are the same as SPC UCA’s , Wescott lift, and 285’s. I don’t rub anywhere at all with this setup. It’s subjective what people consider wheeling, but I’ve been recently doing trails in the AZ desert, to the point that I’ve banged my sliders and skid plate a bit and still haven’t noticed any tire rub. I’m anticipating rub when I change to 17’s with the 285/75/17 mainly because of the drastic change in offset

After some helpful info provided by @Synergy001 I think I'll be more than safe (as well as more happy) going to the -10 or -12 range on an 8.5 (or 8 depending) wheel. Crazy how in demand sizes like this always seem to be, and how little inventory you can find. I'm not a wheel snob or anything, so I'm not opposed to off brands as long as they're not shit construction. I'd be open minded to the L8-MK6, but I can't believe these things are listed as 31 lbs! Unless there's some good reason to avoid MST (I've used their tuner wheels in the past, seemed ok) I might be leaning towards the MST MT01 in the -12. Seems to list at 23 Lbs, I'm ok with that. Method 703's, Motegi MR149 and MR150 were on the radar originally, but as it seems that I can go with the moderate negative offset, I'd like to. Plus, it's not like I can find the 703's or the MR150's at the moment anyway.

Anyone else have any suggestions on a decent non-fauxlock wheel in the 17 x 8/8.5 -10/-12 range that isn't obscenely heavy? Edit: That might actually be available somewhere. Sorry, I'm not a cool enough to wait 3-4 months, especially since it's just about tire time again.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but Icon Rebounds 17x8.5 0 offset 4.75bs available at 4wheelparts. They had 10+ avail about a couple weeks ago. Just weighed, 28.3 lbs. My Coopers 285/75 should be 58ish lb.

I recently ordered .75" Bora wheel spacers so it should clear my jba uca.

Any wheel spacers? What is your caster at?

I'm waiting for tires to deliver and wheel spacers also. I'm 100% pavement, so if it doesn't rub, I'm happy. I have cmc+pinch weld done

Icon Rebounds are definitely a great looking wheel. I just don't particularly want to go the lock-look this time around. And if I can avoid running spacers I will. Nothing personally against them (I've even worked with a company in the past, coordinating their manufacturing for wheel spacers). But with towing our travel trailer, scout trailer, and trail use, I'd like to avoid them if possible.

1" Spidertrax. Don't remember the specific caster and unfortunately I'm away from the truck for a few weeks so I can't grab the sheet to see. I also have a cmc but haven't done the pinch welds so it hits there a little when off pavement but not no the road. I do rub in reverse at full lock. No hits on the cab mount from what I can tell.

One tire shop i went to couldn't transfer the OEM tpms sensor into my icon wheel. Good thing, bc i then returned that 295/70/17 tire. They said something about the angle of the valve stem wouldn't work on my Icon wheels.

On the subject of wheels, i had originally planned on going with scs ray 10s. 17x8.5

Iirc theyre like -12 offset and 4.3 bacnspacing? A good combo for this size tire (know people who run those wheels with these tires)

now im looking at method 701s in 17x8.5 w/ 0 offset and 4.75 backspacing...

Moving that 12mm from offset to backspacing (1/2" is about 12mm) will still keep the tire in the same place, but the wheel will look "less deep" (although its actually not) is my logic flawed here?

Offset and backspacing are directly related to each other. Offset in distance from center line of the wheel to the mounting face. Backspace is distance from the mounting face to the rear lip.
The tire will not be in the same place. Being that the wheels you mentioned are the same width, the 0 offset will move the inner lip of the wheel (and the inner sidewall of the tire) inwards by 12mm, compared to the wheel with -12 offset.

I myself am currently trying to find something similar to the 703's (which share specs the 701's you're looking at) but with an offset in the -10, -12 range.
SCS and RRW are awesome wheels, they look great, but they're too damn difficult to come by, and I'd like to avoid faux-locks if I could, just personal taste. Actually starting to consider Kansei KNP or Roku now, since they're available, and in the weight range I'd like to be in as well.

I am about to pull the trigger on some this week and have been curious on this as well. Originally was gonna get 315/70's but don't want to cut metal.. yet. also the weight difference was pretty large

What are you doing for UCAs? Got your caster pushed forward? Otherwise plan on cutting metal with this tire size. Especially the cab mount and pinch welds above the cab mount. My tires are rubbing the firewall but need to push my caster more forward

I am currently running Icon delta joint UCA's, I had my CMC + pinch weld done last year to clear 285/70's along with molded the fender lining

Well then, hopefully it’ll work for ya. This size is pretty sweet looking compared to the 285/70s.

Yeah, once I realized I did not want to do what's needed to run 35's, I was glad I found this thread and seeing it as a good compromise. I also wasn't prepared to re-gear. On the fence now with KM3's or Geolander M/T's

Your not re-geared? I would definitely re-gear with this tire size. Even with my 255s that I had I needed to re gear. Made a huge difference on and off-road

Maybe it was the fact I had the 285's installed right when I got the truck, I didnt think it was that bad imo. The ray10's are pretty light wheel and the ko2's were c rated, it didn't feel bad to me. Im going to get OV Tune soon as well. The truck is a lease also, and am not sure if I am keeping it after, otherwise I'd do 35's and run front/rear high clearance bumpers and re gear
