    Hey all,

First, I would like to thank anyone who takes the time to read this post. Second, I'd like to apologize if I am posting this in the wrong section.

    Moving on...

I recently noticed some vibrations, shaking, shuttering, take your pick. They only occur once I reach the ~ 90km mark (56 miles, for the USA folks) on the highway. Driving at lower speeds seems to be fine, but I do notice some play in the steering wheel. I took a look under the truck and noticed that my outer tie rod end (drivers side) had a damaged boot that was leaking grease. I have added a picture I took of it for yal's convenience. I went and picked up a new tie rod end to replace the damaged one, but won't be able to do the swap until Monday (15 March).

My reason for posting is to ask:

    1. Would this damaged tie rod end be reason enough for me to feel those vibrations at Highway speeds?

    2. I have also noticed a slight delay in shifting to drive, and also to reverse. However there only seems to be a delay on my first shift after letting the truck sit for awhile (eg. overnight). After doing my research on these particular symptoms, coupled with the vibrations - I am also concerned I have a failing U-joint(s) in the driveshaft. I am wondering if anyone recommends I try replacing those too, or wait to test drive the truck after the Tie Rod has been replaced.

I am trying to avoid taking it into a shop if at all possible, I am a student with a small income right now and don't want to pay a shop for some work I can do myself. Obviously I won't try and hold anyone accountable to their recommendations. I am just looking for some advice.

Again, thank you SO MUCH to anyone who takes the time to view/read/reply to this thread.

Check usual suspects, carrier bearing ujoints. The tie rod will prob give you play in steering

There is more to that thread than just towing .
I would suggest going through the thread as a list to narrow down your issue .
I designed the thread in such a way that if you go down the list , you will get a better idea of where your vibration is coming from and how to fix your vibration

Play in steering wheel will most likely be the lower+upper steering shaft. but do shake down the whole front end for possible wheel bearing or ball joint issues, jack from the control arm.

Hahah yeah as I replied after my initial response I didn't notice the link you sent, only your signature that shows an image of what happens when you tow in Overdrive haha. My mistake! I really appreciate the info in that thread you linked me too.
