I tried taking that brass restrictor but it seems stuck. Did you pull it straight out or twist?

Sorry, I was really looking forward to this. I’ve owned supercharged mustangs in the past, get crazy hp for the $. Supercharger +CARB is perfect for California. But seriously, the performance gain here for essentially $7k’ish, I’m sorry but it’s still reaaaally slow IMHO. I was hoping for something a bit more transformative, but I guess with the high compression engine they put in these there isn’t much to be done about it. I’m glad people are happy with it, not bashing your choice, but maybe I just had a bit more expectation than paying $7k and still have a 15 second 1/4 and 0-60 in 7 seconds. That’s a lot of $ to still get smoked by a Camry.

I don’t get why folks who care about 0-60 times would buy a heavy v6 truck in the first place.

Ummm.....thanks for needlessly giving your opinion I guess. I think the majority of people here still understood a supercharged Taco is going to be nothing like a supercharged mustang, or even just a camry. There are other reasons to do this besides stoplight racing a McLaren.

I tend to agree with most of what you said as far as power/$ ratio (Compression isn't the hurdle) but the biggest issues facing higher horsepower numbers seem to be:

1.) Fueling is maxed out under or around 400hp with OVT having a solution but I haven't seen/heard anything about it.

2.) Software has seemed to be the real core issue but that seems to be at least mostly figured out for a stock 370hp blower. I have high hopes people are working on software for a Taco with a fuel pump, Y pipe, and smaller pulley.

I'm waiting on mine so I am speaking as someone who hasn't even run it yet but the blower capacity seems no where near maxed out so there should be a chunk of meat left on the bone provided the issues listed above can be overcome.

Agreed with everything you said. I have a feeling they have been holding off with more aggressive tuning, smaller pulleys, etc. until they got their carb, which they just got. Hopefully they start ramping it up cause it does seem like it could be a super powerful blower. Mine is expected at the shop tomorrow I think. They were willing to make changes to their tune for alternator increase based on the specs I’m using which is nice. If they don't try and push more hp out of it I’ll likely try and get a smaller pulley and take it to a reputable tuning shop and work on something with them.

I’m running dual AGM batteries. I wonder how they will incorporate your changes for others that would benefit. Does that mean you have a version other than version 7 from Magnuson?

i haven’t installed the SC yet, but I tune my truck/others around denver and I have values that I use for the alternator so it puts out 14.4 v on average. They said they were open to changing the values for the alternator that I use based on what I sent them.

The power to $ ratio isnt there. But right now its the only kit that (you can buy right now) will give you a bump in performance if thats what your looking for.

To be fair the 32% increase is roughly the same as most of magnusons kits at the same price point.

the biggest gain the have on a stock kit is for the 6.2L L86 which gets 38%. Almost all their other kits including the Taco are 32%.

edit: the tundra kit actually has some bigger gains than the Silverado L86. 42% but it’s also more expensive than the Taco kit. The 5.7L is a lot dumber engine than our 3.5L too. It has a lot more room for tuning.

I feel like only a few people on this board have realistic expectations of what any and all power-adders do especially to a pig pickup. If it doesn't give you a 3 second flat 0-60 time and cost $500 it'll never be worth it. :deadhorse:

If you don’t want unsolicited opinions on a public forum you’re going to have a bad day. You’re going to get opinions that agree and some that disagree. If you just want to hear stuff that reinforces your own choices and not hear other dissenting views then perhaps stay inside and just talk to a mirror.
