    Mmmmm.
    So I did a thing.
Had an old computer and a older cable.
    Downloaded and installed.
    Went great.
However it says I need a critical update to a new version of Techstream
    software.
Did not let me connect to the cable the very first time with 32 bit drivers.
As me being stupid I have a 64 bit system.
Then it tells me I have 29 connections left.
Which I see all the time cause the shop goes down for hours at a time.
I had disconnected from the internet.

however and this is my thinking.

my computer reconnected to the net without me knowing it.
So nothing has been mentioned about another update to that it won’t
Load in this situation on config.

so I’m thinking I screwed up the install
    And my cable won’t work cause it’s a ver. 1.4 32 I think and
Even if I have the 64 bit drivers I found it won’t accept the drivers.

no big deal if it doesn’t work per say but I think I may need a 2.0 cable
    Anyway.
    Which I can’t find anywhere.
Really wanted the mongoose. Don’t care if it’s the China 40 dollar one.

if I have to do something different that’s ok too.
    I just had that cable..

So I’m real real good at using the equipment but doing roundy round installs not so much.
I’m wondering If I should uninstall and do it again and make sure I never connect to the net..

    just throwing this out here.

Oh yea windows 7 home premium.

The info is in the 1st Post and discussed many times in this thread.

That version of TS is out of date, which is not a problem other than the warning. WiFi off to connect. If you accidentally try to connect with WiFi on, it will reset the counter.

Even my new version of TS wants to call home if WiFi is on.

I cannot help you with the cable drivers. Just a thing that folks often find it hard to connect with cheap closes. If all that you are trying to do is diagnostics and Customizations, then a cheap cable might work. If you are trying to flash a TSB, get the genuine Tactrix.

Yea like I said no biggie. Now with the counter and and add such it asks for the update even disconnected. Like I said I just might wipe it out and try again or go to the shop and see what happens. You have done a amazing job on this as well as your friends and I commend you highly.
    Good day sir

Once the counter hits 0, you just run the activation steps again. It’s no biggie

I’ll see if I can build a quick exe we could copy to the techstream folder which would look for the ini file, open it, parse it, check days remaining.

If under 10 then write a backup reset to 30, save.

    Then launch the techstream exe.

That would probably be easier/safer/better than powershell or cmd script.

Then I’d need to build for both 32 bit and 64 bit.

I know you know your shit but somewhere a while ago somehow found the script line with the counter
Number on it and he “says” he would go in and reset it to 30.
Now I’m just going from memory but this sticks out for some reason.
I don’t even remember if it was proved or not

Same person, but just accidentally trying to connect while on WiFi will do that all by itself. Then, you remember to turn off WiFi and proceed.

Exactly. And something I think could be automated. But as Tony says, forgetting to turn off wifi works too. Though it might be extra slick for the exe to do that for you too (turn off wifi)

Perhaps you can explain exactly what all this credit thing is about and how it works; the web site isn't totally clear and I've already run into questions at my end.

I installed and registered vFTuner, connected to my 2020 TRD and used up 4 credits to unlock the 04B80 ID; so my VIN is unlocked on that ID. If I upgrade my ECU with the TSB to 04B81, will I have to pay 4 more credits to unlock the 04B81 ID in vFTuner? Or can I get my tune pack swapped for the 04B81 ID (I already got one for the 04B80 ID) and just flash a tune from that pack at no extra credit expense since I already unlocked my VIN in vFTuner?

It's a bit confusing about what's tied to the 4 credits and what's not.

    Hey, JT.

You get nine credits with a vF License, as you know. You need four Credits to Unlock a VIN forever for anyone. You need four Credits to Unlock an ECU for editing tied to your Master Key. If you want to flash up to 04B81, which I highly recommend, you need to get the 04B81 Tune Pack. @OVTune will send that to you if you message him, show him the update, and are on the latest vF Version, currently 1.2.9.9.2 .

You won't have to spend any more Credits on your VIN, but you would need to spend four Credits to Unlock 04B81, if you want to edit it. It doesn't need to be Unlocked to flash.

Lemme know if you have any other questions.

See the 1st post of the ECU Update thread for instructions to flash 04B81.

Interesting. when I opened vFTune for the first time, I have 5 credits and used 4 to unlock my 04B80 ID, now I have 1. I haven't done anything but follow the video for installing the software and connecting to and registering the software to my truck for the first time.

Send a message to OVT with your order number to get the remaining Credits. A lot of folks didn't get the last four.

    Delete the program .
