I had tossed my original filter and plastic baffle, but now that I’m seeing the recall being extended and modified, I sourced a used set to keep on the shelf. I’d hate for mine to take a crap and for Toyota to deny a repair due to the modifications.
This way I can toss them back on if I throw the code.

I seen something of a recall too. My wifes is a 3/2013 model and approaching 100k miles. I knew nothing of this filter until recently.

That's one my friend has. He did much research too. I just went with Warn over this one because price was near the same but without synthetic rope. I'm not sure if my friend has had to use his, he got lucky and was one of the first on trail. After him a few had to winch because the rocks were wet and slippery.
2 coworkers I think one bad lands and another bought horrible fright both conked out in short order, then the warranty replacement did the same:eek:

My justification for the synthetic cable is weight related. I was going to go with the lower end steel cable smittybilt, then upgrade to synthetic as cost allowed. But figured it’d be better to just buy once, cry once and not need to upgrade the fairlead to a hawse, I hate needing to revisit projects only to do it the way I wanted it to be in the first place!

I like my Warn Winches Parts could be had for anything in a few days before the China Flu.

Not sure about about the off shore built ones.

Then I ran a 8000 pound Winch on my Lawn Tractor it works great as long as your secured to something heavier then your trying to move

100%! We just got back from doing donuts on the 4wheeler on the stream behind the house. This only seemed appropriate
