I've got a 4 banger and don't think I've ever heard mine run after shutdown. Only hear it when it's cold/cooler temps for a range of 5-45 secs then it goes away. Also did a Uni Filter at around 30k-ish.
Notice that the filter gets gummy from dust and mud when doing truck stuff, so I've bought a new one to replace it. I already know that my CELs that periodically kick on and off at random with air temp drops and rises is due to this stupid emissions pump and having a LCE header. And of course, the 'only fix' is a ~$1000 ECU and tune :jerkoff:

Hewitt makes a bypass for the 2.7L. its about 400 bucks. Here's the link. Make sure you select the 2TR-FE on the drop down menu

You're fuckin magical my man!:bowdown::bowdown:

I like that kit since it emulates the complete pump system! Cool as hell!
I don't like they don't have sensors for the 2.7 to replace the solenoids, but maybe they'll come along soon.

Guess you spent my money :D

How has this been working out? I've been curious about these. Realistically, the OEM part is very likely sourced from China as well (almost everything is now, even OEM parts), so this might even be a "gray market" item (made by the same manufacturer and reaching the market through 'other channels') like a lot of other secondary market parts.

Taking mine to the dealer tomorrow. Have print out of the codes and copy of the recall. Hope for no charge. Made it 130,000 miles before failure. Hope can make the same again.

Update: Toyota is covering the repair and since it will be a week or so with the holidays they are giving me a free loaner.

Just had the P2442 on my son's 2012 Taco 4.0, truck has 195K on it. Found this site with Google, called Mike Erdman Toyota in Cocoa Fl gave them the vin said it was covered under warranty. Dropped it off at 1 and picked up at 630, was very happy and surprised. Thought I was going to be out a bunch.

    BUMPING THIS BITCH!!!!

P2442 just popped on my end. For crystal clarity there is no warranty / TSB / Toyota coverage for MY13-MY15 trucks. Correct?

My dealer covered my son's 2012 with 195k on it no questions asked. 0 out of pocket.

From what I know it’s 2012 only, but that may have changed in the last couple years.

First time getting the P2440 and 2442 codes, along with the CEL and TRAC OFF lights on my 2012 4.0 at 119k miles as of yesterday. Dealer inspection hasn't happened yet as no appointments are available until midweek, but I just took the notice in on my bicycle and they booked an appointment for me while they wait for parts to come in. Had noticed some corrosion on the inside of the valve kit's inlet pipe.

Hoping they'll replace the pump too. I haven't taken it out to inspect myself, but I did still drive on the freeway about 8 miles while it was in limp mode and a few blocks trying to diagnose it before coming across the thread here. Luckily, the warranty letter was sitting in our old mail from a year ago--I had no clue it had arrived. Someone else opened the letter and left it there.

Is it still recommended to install one of the kits for longevity after parts have been replaced?

I upgraded to the Hewitt Tech kit before experiencing any issues on my 12. It helps me sleep at night, knowing my truck is much less likely to go into limp mode. After all, I did buy it for the reliability. I hear the 2nd gen HT kit is an improvement over what I have but haven’t experienced any issues after running it for a few years now. I recommend it for peace of mind.

I am in a similar place, 95,000 no issues. Do you have a link to what you used? Did you put on the unifilter too?

Here is the 2nd gen bypass kit. It doesn’t appear they sell the first gen kit anymore. https://hewitt-tech.com/store/index.php?c=featured

I started having troubles with my 12’ a few weeks ago. I found water in a hose coming from the secondary air intake pump. It’s going tomorrow for inspection from the dealer. My only problem might be that whoever owned my truck before me put a k&n cai in it. Is that going to make them turn away from the 20tc10 special service campaign?

    Thanks.

The first time mine was replaced they blamed it on the K&N CAI

308savage, did they do a warranty for it or did you have to pay out of pocket for it? It seems that a lot of people have the issue regardless.
