Good news: valves are all within spec
Bad news: need a new fan blade, clutch seems OK, not sure about radiator

Don't forget to take the ratchet off the crankshaft bolt before you start the engine...

Anyone have a fan blade for sale (for 4cyl if they're 4cyl/6cyl specific)?

Yeah they look plenty strong. I'm guessing he's doing this for ease of manufacturing. I don't think he underbuilds anything.

    Dang that sucks.

I had similar happen during a water crossing, didn't realize till steam started coming out the hood. But it's a pretty easy fix luckily.

Total bonehead moment, after I got it buttoned back up I stared at the engine making sure i got everything hooked up and back together and didn't even think about the 1/2" ratchet on the crank bolt.

it's my DD so I need to find something hopefully within the next day or two!

Edit: luckily i can work from home all week if I have to but it's nice to have 2 working cars in case the wife is at work and I have to pick up kids or something.

First time installing a radio. PO had glued the A/C knob on in the middle so that was forced off. Autozone had some spare random knobs and I was lucky to find one that fit and glue her in. Sony xav-ax1000 was 299 on crutchfield. Pretty sweet with volume knob and carplay. Velcro'd the bluetooth mic behind the pimp cane e brake.

Lol, I can't say I haven't made my share of similar dumb mistakes. I picked up a replacement from O'Reilly's, been going good for 8ish years.

Did you check the crank bolt torque after this happened? Back in the day that’s how I would loosen that bolt if I didn’t have room for an impact gun.

I did on my 2nd gen. Wouldn't hesitate to do it on the 1st gen.

Will be tough to drill without pulling, but not impossible. You'll need to drill though the arm, outer sleeve, and bushing, but stop when you hit the inner sleeve. You'll also probably need to loosen your cams to grease it properly.

I swear you can never have too much grease for poly bushings. I put a zerk on everything I can at this point.

Why thank you! She was very timid at first, I assume from leaving her litter/mom, a new home, transport from Texas, but she is really coming around now! Looking forward to taking her with us on adventures in the truck.

Im having trouble adjusting my kings?

Firstly, In order to loosen the collar, I’m having to push on the Allen wrench so hard I’m afraid I’m going to break something..
Second, I have a spanner wrench but the shock collar only has 4 holes to insert the round peg into. While still installed I can’t get the spanner into any of them..
Should I remove the coilovers to adjust them?
If I remove them, is it as easy as removing the big bottom bolt, then the 3 top nuts to pull them out? Or are there additional steps?

I definitely can’t afford to F@&K something up right now.

    Thanks

Found some seats out of a 3rd Gen 4runner Limited. After lost of drilling and swapping brackets the seats are installed. Feels WAY better than the 23 year old cloth seats that where in it.

Shock will pull out super easy just removing those 4 bolts you mentioned. Couldn't hurt to pull it to check your lower spherical bearings for wear and play. They should be tight not loose.

If you're trying to crank the coilovers down for more lift it will be hard but not impossible depending on how strong you are.

Personally the spanner wrenches suck. The pin will bend and then fall out if the handle. A better cheaper option is to go buy a pack of pry bars from orielys and then pick the second longest one then grind the tip down to fit the holes. The steel is stronger and the bar is longer for better leverage.

Then you put the longest pry bar on two of the studs and the one on the collar and pry both together or whatever direction you want to go.

Note I did mine straight but if you left the angled tip on and ground it down it would actually be useful on the truck itself.

    IMG_20190321_214501.jpg

Again it will be hard to add lift as you'll be fighting the coil and is not recommended. If you're lowering it it'll go just fine.

Easy there. No need to be sarcastic about it. there’s junk all stuck to the side right below the surface. I need to get that out of there without any falling down. If I stuff anything in there I might scrape some off and it’ll fall in.
