What series of King shocks are you guys running? I never see anyone say if they are running performance series or the pure race series shocks. What is the real difference between the two? Are the pure race series worth the extra?

performance series are a 2.5" diameter shock body and pure race are like 3.5" and 4.5"

the pure race shocks with the bigger diameter and design, hold up to higher heat and perform better, but you would have to be racing pretty hard to get the most out of them...

most are likely running performance series shocks...

pure race would be overkill for most prerunner LT trucks...

the only TW trucks i could see needing pure race shocks would be MJP and 06haole...

your best bet is to go with performance shocks and use the leftover money towards other suspension components...

Not trying to be a smart ass but they do come in 2.0, 2.5, etc according to their website. Check out this link. Thats why I ask. But I did figure by the pricing everyone gives that they are not using the pure race. Also according to polyperformance they do not come with springs

My front bypass shocks are King race series. It's a few hundred more, but I put a lot of solo dirt miles on my truck and just wanted the extra assurance. After seeing them up close, I think it's worth it and it makes me want to swap all of my shocks out for them. If you can afford it, go with the race series (they come in 2.5 too), but like Mike said it's overkill. I like overkill, but I'm in the desert a long way from home by myself a lot and reliability is important to me.

EDIT: It's normal for shocks to not come with springs, and don't buy them through poly. I love polyperformance and spent thousands there last year, but Sonny at downsouth is the go to guy for shocks if you want them done right and have a fast turn around time.

knowing you personally, Logan, you would need overkill given where you live and how you drive...

Replace my name with Logans. That dude doesnt DGAF. I am a lot more cautious since I dont have a cage.

X10 on buying from Downsouth over Poly. They have a much higher overhead than he does so it has to get passed on to the consumer.

Sonny told me that better seals are part of the benefit of race series Kings over performance series.
