Idk. The F1 sheaths are OK. Unless you use the snap, seems less secure. I hear you on the Kydex. But then I've always put my hand on the hilt and thumb on the sheath and extracted the knife-it can be difficult in the beginning but over time, works itself out.

This what mine came with and it's pretty stiff. Hard to get the knife properly situated. But there's nothing like leather.

Really wish the S90V came with the wood grips and leather sheath. If the S30V is the exact dimensions I may just buy that and swap out the grips and use the leather sheath.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

I just bought a lansky the other week. I like it. I reprofiled one knife and sharpened three others and it did a great job

That’s pretty awesome that you forged your own blade.

I have been wanting to make my own knife for a while. I decided I want to start off making custom scales for knives first. I ordered a desktop CNC router and a bunch of micarta, wood, and carbon fiber stock. Can’t wait to get the machine in and put it to work.

I didnt want to eat too much of the actual blade off. Those deep gouges are from heavy blows with the hammer. I should have eased up when I got closer to the shape.

Thanks, I need a lot of work but we gotta start somewhere. I've been wanting to forge my own knife for some time and pulled the trigger and bought everything I need. Sounds like you got a good idea on what you need to do!

I like the uneven hand-forged surface. Very nice. Swedish axe craftsmen leave the forge signature, as well.D567DBE9-AFA3-4627-BFE2-1ABEF3190AD4.jpg

Its growing on me. Which axe is that? I got their camp axe. I love it! Such a great company and damn good axe heads. I've used it many times, and still havent sharpened it.

Yes, Wildlife Hatchet. Check LL BEAN’s; you may find it less expensive than Amazon, for this item.

Edit: Just checked. Amazon @ $179.90. LL Bean @ $153.

I've considered taking a couple classes locally to learn to forge. Couple hundreds bucks seems reasonable for the knowledge and taking home the creation too. That looks cool. I made some scales over Christmas and wish I had not used adhesive and had used the supplied hardware in the kit. Still it's a fond memory and while the knife is nothing special I'm glad to have it

That's great! I think the imperfections in the first blade is perfect - you need to see that it was hand made, and you need to have goals to get better and better every time. If you hone the first one to perfection it will take away from the next one.
I have so many potential hobbies in my bucket list that I can't get to any of them. Knife making is near the top of the list. I have started by buying blades and doing just the scales since I already have the wood working tools, and will then add forging tools hopefully soon.
It's an inspiration to see what you have done; now I need to get going!
