Hello. I have a 2017 Taco.. full tow package. Has the 7 and 4 pin. As far as I can figure out I just need a 7 to 5 pin converter in order for the trailer to work properly? Any advise is appreciated. The Trailer is for a Boat.. all under the 6500 limit.
    Cheers

you can still plug it into the 7 pin on your truck. unless its a total different shape but from my experience its the same. (mastercraft trailer)

The Trailer with the hydraulic brakes has a 5 pin.. like I said I have a 7 and or 4 pin.. therefore need a converter.

Do you mean surge brakes or electric over hydraulic? I've never seen a boat trailer on a 5 flat use the latter.

The best way would be for you to rewire the trailer plug to a 7 way RV round. Very few tow vehicles have a 5 flat anymore. Or if you want to go the cheap and easy way, use a converter and double check that the lights are working as they should.

My recommendation: Take it to an 18wheeler trailer shop. They'll rewire it for you in a couple of minutes, and it's cheap. We had a couple of work trailers repinned for like 30 dollars labor plus parts.

Also, does your truck have an integrated trailer brake controller?

If not you will have to add an aftermarket one
