I started out welding on a Miller suitcase welder with flux core wire. We used them out in the field for various repairs. It was small enough to carry in my company issued Transit Connect. Using MIG after that was a no brainer. When the company moved me to a local position they had a Miller machine with a stick attachment. One night when it was slow I took it upon myself to learn how to use it. Actually went well for my first time. When I landed my current gig they have a couple Miller 480V machines with either MIG or a stick lead. I prefer using the stick to be honest. It's the only welding we do upstairs since we don't want to lug gas bottles upstairs. We have a welder on a portable cart with long leads. There's 480V plugs everywhere to use. We do have a Fronius battery operated stick welder that's good for small jobs, but it definitely has its shortcomings. Most guys can stick weld, but know nothing of different rod use for different scenarios. Everybody seems to use the 7018's, but they're a PITA to strike. My current favorite is 6013 rods using reverse polarity. It'll burn right through the rust and paint like nothing.

I've worked every day since I was 17. I'm 60 now. Used to do all day then all night call. Sometimes 30 or 40 hours straight. Was never a problem, just meant the equipment I worked on changed from season to season.
    It's only 1 hour!

We're getting the scum that's left over after everyone else has already scraped it.

We get 1-2 good employees for every like 20 or 30..

One of the mechanics either cleared 90k or was VERY close to it last year..

I worked like that in my youth  , not for that money unfortunately.:pout:

It took me many years to figure out that time only goes forward and the more time that passes the more it accelerates.

I did a good bit of O.T. in 2020, made for nice paychecks, but took me over the edge into the next tax bracket. I knew I was close already without O.T., but didn't pay attention. Yup, not doing that this year. I got screwed on my taxes...

Good morning fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians!!! On to Tuesday we go!!

I started delivering morning papers when I was 12, working a part-time job when I was 16 (to pay my parents back for my first car - a '63 Ford Falcon convertible), worked full time during the summers and part time during the school year through high school and my freshman year of college, then worked part-time during my last two years of college while doing ROTC. Then I went into the Army where we were just happy if we got to sleep, let alone lost or gained an hour through DST. After 26 years of Army life, I just don't notice the time changes any more. But, it messes Lynn up for a week or two - we are all just different. Go figure.

Got a full reimbursement from our insurance company on the cost of having the tree removed that blew down two weeks ago. An adjuster shows up this morning to look at the old greenhouse. We'll see how that turns out.

    Stay safe out there!!

Morning pa peeps. The time change has never bothered me. I just like the fact it stays lighter out longer. Although I still think them changing the time is stupid but what can you do.
