Hello, I just purchased a 2021 Tacoma Limited and am wondering whats the best Brake Controller to buy and where to install it. My old 2016 controller was below and to the right of the steering wheel but the 2021 now has a knee air bag located in that area. Any thoughts?

Redarc. Easy install, plug and play and very discrete.

I getting ready to install a Redarc in my '21 TRD OR AC V6. The box will go under the passenger side seat and the control knob in a blank switch position in the center dash just above the Qi charger. To me, it's better visibility from a driving position, easy to reach, but a bitch to extend the wiring back to the harness near the fuse box under the dash. I was initially thinking of putting the box under the driver's seat, but with a power seat there's already a bunch of wires to content with.
But then, I've never been known to do things the quick and easy way. Kinda fussy about things.

Have you considered installing the box under the dash? It can be installed in a variation of ways, and some even use zip ties/ double sided tape. Easiest to run the data cable to the knob that way, and avoid running from seating area.

I’m sure the wiring harness is long enough to mount the controller under the drivers side dash and the switch in the dash below the heater controls. I put mine on the left side since I had an open blank there but there was easily enough extra cable to reach. If you haven’t bought/received it yet I would do some mock up first, I think you will be surprised.

I agree with some of the other memebers; RedArc is the easiest and works great. I installed the Liberty for less than $150 including the unit, switch insert, and wiring. Looks OEM and takes the place of an unused blank.

Yeah the wire that comes with it is a bit generous. Just be sure to mount the control box to something secure so it doesn't move. I used Gorilla extreme 2 side mounting tape. You could screw it to something. You could use zip ties but only as a second way to hold it in case the tape comes loose. You don't want any movement.

The cable to the remote control is exactly like ethernet cable so you could just buy a longer one if needed to mount the remote. You should be able to get one at a local computer store or order one from Monoprice.

That cable is for the control knob-to-box. The wiring from the box to the truck harness is different.

    Hey Mike!

The Tow Pro V2 came with a rj45 cable from box to knob, the new V3 will have an automotive connector that is a bit different just a heads up!

As you'll see in this photo on the side of the box, no worries though the cable will still be plenty long for most applications.

Well that's different. The towpro Liberty I bought I'm August had the ethernet cable. Is that a change across the product line?

The cables with mine were plenty long for where I installed it. I had to tie some up.

The Liberty will remain the same for now with the RJ45 like you have.

The fact that @REDARC_Ryan is commenting on here has swayed me to a Redarc product.

I just tow a super light A-Frame, 1200lbs, give or take - which one should I get? I had a $20 Reese in my last Tacoma. That's all I have to go on for trailer brakes.
