We tow our 22' travel trailer five for six times a year as we are still working and mostly within 500 miles of the fort. That may change in a couple of years when we retire and perhaps then I can get something BIGGER to tow with if necessary (and perhaps even a bigger trailer), who knows what time will bring. The Taco will move to "toy" status if that happens, wife will just have to park outside. :)IMG_0363.jpg

I'll see what I come up with when I install mine.

I have the 500lb version don’t remember the model # but mine are completely flat. They work great for what I need without any difference in the ride when not pulling a trailer.

It doesn’t matter the rating blue black 500 1k… they all screw into the same bracket. I get you saying so trying to help (like I mentioned that’s the most I get from people). Next time you take a rear wheel off look at it at eye level not looking down and take a picture for me- honestly the only thing that will convince me. You see what I’m talking about right with the used sumo pics?

Just hit the edge of the ears with a grinder. No biggie as I would definitely get the U bolts to sit flush. It's been so long since I installed mine I can't remember if I had to do this or not, but I absolutely would grind the ears down and be done with it. It's hardly hacking, there still is 2 1/2"+ of flat for the U bolts to rest on.

I'll see if I can get a pic tomorrow.

I’d feel better taking a drill bit for a more clean shape but having a hard time figuring out how to drill down only half the diameter- if that makes any sense. And I’d appreciate that if you could

Turn the grinder wheel 90 degrees and perpendicular to the base. Come together.

    coming soon!
Mine sit flat and I wouldn't have installed them either if they had a gap like that. With so many people running them, your the only one that has ever mentioned this? Maybe we all are just blind or maybe you got a bad base brackets, or possibly ones for a different truck.

Now I'll have to take a look and will report back after the inspection !

    Screenshot_20210308-221443.jpg

Took a closer look at mine. While there is a small gap I'm not too worried as the torque values on the hardware haven't changed. I'd be more concerned had there been changes there. As previously mentioned the load is distributed across the contact surface of the Sumo and is not a "pulling" force. I have about 7000 miles on the Sumos and will re-inspect at my next oil change/under vehicle inspection.

    Here again just my $0.02...FWIW...

Wasn’t trying to come off like that (blind), just from my view it seems bizarre and then all the used ones that show wear in the same spot…had me leaping and feeling like Sherlock

I’ll get back in touch with the company because you are right- it definitely could be out of spec or different application.

Haven’t installed my summos yet but I was under the truck today running electrical for some bed lights. Clearly there’s some rubbing going on in dips, pulling out of gas stations with the trailer etc. A734147C-5265-40BA-B86D-40D58F8270EE.jpg

So I checked and can't really see anything other than my u bolts sit flat of course. I can still get a pic, but it's gonna be exactly what you are expecting them to look like. Sorry for the anticlimactic results.

I would suggest starting your own thread on this because now, I'm curious lol.

From the day I took the taco home I’ve told my wife that the drivers side sits lower than than the passenger side. She says I’m nuts.

Well, I don’t have a picture of it but the gap between the summo and the frame is twice as much in the passenger side as it is on the drivers side. And it’s in my level garage.

I just bought a gfc and with camping gear I’ve got some sag. I also have a set of duro bumps and wanted to use them. Are there air bags that don’t mount in the same spot on the leafs? Or just sell the duros?

Taco lean sucks, gas tank, driver and battery are all on the left and wear it down faster.

Some guys add small spacers on the leaf to address.
