TLDR: What should we buy for our honeymoon off road trip out west + list in our registry?

    Hi Everyone!

My wife and I are getting married later this year and we are planning out our Honeymoon. We typically spend any and all of our vacation time in National Parks/Monuments/BLM land. In the last 3 years we have been to Arches, Canyonlands (we did a portion of the White Rim Trail), Bryce Canyon (my favorite!), Grand Staircase Escalante, Zion, Capitol Reef, Petrified Forest, Grand Canyon, Great Sand Dunes, Black Canyon of Gunnison, Mesa Verde, Rocky Mountain, Yellowstone, Badlands, Custer State Park, Mammoth Cave (need to explore more), Monument Valley, Meteor Crater, Hovenweep, Biscayne, Everglades, Great Smoky Mountains, and countless other places out west.

For our honeymoon we decided to go back to one of our favorite places on Earth: Utah. Our honeymoon will be between 2-3 weeks in the fall. We will have our Roof Top Tent on the tacoma, and plan to not be in campgrounds unless we have to, and even then we only choose BLM sites. We will primarily be in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (tons of off road trails with awesome sites) and the Capitol Reef/Canyonlands area the first week. The second week we plan to go to Joshua Tree, take the El Camino Del Diablo trail to Organ Pipe Cactus to Saguaro and possibly finish our trip with Carlsbad Caverns before heading back home. We wanted to hit up Death Valley, but I think we have decided to make that into its own trip another year.

For our wedding registry, I would it to be more focused on our honeymoon rather than home items that a lot of people tend to gift. We are primarily asking for cash to help with our honeymoon, but I understand that some people still want to give an actual gift which is awesome! We are about to send out our "save the dates" which will send guests to our wedding website which is almost complete, except for the registry. We want to take this opportunity to buy items that we will need and enjoy for a long time. I don't want to come across as ungrateful because that isn't the case at all! I am very grateful. I know that I would rather gift something to someone that they actually want/need than a generic gift card/random thing for their home. Our family and friends know that we love the NPS + camping and this isn't an unusual or random ask.

I have owned my own home for over 4 years...and the last thing we need is more stuff coming into our house. I know it's common for people to buy wedding gifts that are used for "making a home" for the couple but seriously, we have everything we need. Hell, half of my wife's apartment is still in the basement from when she moved in with me because I already owned everything (don't worry, we are having a yard sale later this year). Seriously, we don't need anything for our home. In fact, we need to purge our house. My wife has lived with me for two years.

My wife and I are 100% funding this wedding ourselves. We are not taking out loans or using credit cards. We have been saving pretty strictly for almost 2 years. We have had to get creative on how to have a "nice" wedding on a budget. Wedding costs are for the birds. Neither of our families are wealthy, and we do not expect gifts, and we surely do not expect extravagant gifts. Most of my family lives in a trailer down by the river (seriously) to paint a picture for y'all.

Here's a few items I would like to have listed on the registry/put gift cash towards for this honeymoon trip:
MaxTrax - I want to get out if I get stuck somewhere remotely
BFG K02 Tires - I dont trust the stock tires on the tacoma, period.
A decent portable air compressor - Suggestions? I have a Ryobi but I don't expect it to last forever...its been used pretty hard as is.
    Tire Deflator
    Skid plate(s)
    Jerry Cans
    Jerry Can Carrier
National Park/monument/public/reservation land fees - we have a NPS pass but it expires 1/2 through our Honeymoon
Generic camping necessities (fuel, food, firewood, etc)

What I already have for my 2018 Off Road Tacoma:
    Dissent Offroad Bed Rack
Dissent Offroad Cab Rack (on order)
    Softopper
    Roof Top Tent
    RTT Annex
    Hi-lift Jack
    Bedstiffeners
Rago ditch brackets for pod lights (still deciding on pods, suggestions are always welcomed)
    Assortment of Straps
    Yeti/Rtic Cooler
All basic camping gear (camp stove, lights, etc)

What else would you suggest is needed and/or will be handy/useful? I want to be transparent on what we want to spend our cash on, and why these things are wanted/needed and not frivolous.
Any of the above will be bought regardless of if we are gifted them or not, and we will have funds for our honeymoon regardless of being gifted anything. Also, any other items that you feel are pertinent regardless of being on the registry, definitely comment below. I would love to hear others opinions. Thank you!

Feel free to let me know if this should be moved to another sub-group, I wasn't sure the best place to post. Thank you for any and all suggestions!

When my brother got married they had a gift card tree. As they had already been living together for quite some time before getting married, they did not need any household items either. Also, people like to give gifts not on the registry even though you lay it for them what you need/want. So they got a couple trees from a local craft store and politely stated gift cards are highly appreciated. The person would bring the card up to the tree where they had string hanging with clips on the end. Clip your card on a string and that was it. It was kind of cool.

BTW, If you've found a woman who'll agree for that for a honeymoon, never let her go, far, in your truck, just kidding.
    Congratulations!

If you haven't had one yet, ask for a vasectomy. Can’t have kids ruining all that outdoor sex on trips like that...

& congratulations on marrying your wife.

Absolutely! We keep some in the truck at all time regardless...you never know lol

Agreed about the RnR. That was a big factor for choosing Glen Canyon, we will definitely take advantage of lazing around Lake Powell. We have made the mistake in the past of trying to do too much at once, and we are still learning.
We have tire plugs and patches, and we keep them in the truck. I will probably pick up some more though for good measure.
I have the lite version of Gaia, and I have been wondering if it is worth the subscription! This is something that we will put our list! Thanks!

Yes! We keep those on hand all the time. Definitely a must have....and some monkey butt.

You and me both, bud. The hope isn't that our friends and family buy all of the above. I don't expect anyone to buy a tire lol. The wish is that if we are gifted cash, this is what we plan to spend it on to be transparent where funds are going. We are going on our honeymoon 1.5 weeks after our wedding which doesn't leave a lot of time for us to gather items between our wedding and honeymoon, so most of this will be ordered in advance. I have noticed that a lot of weddings I have been to in the last year utilize the ability to send your gift online in advance via The Knot portal for Amazon and for Cash transaction, if people choose that then cool! If not, then still cool! This is the same reason why we are going to list lower cost items as well, in case our guests would like to purchase a gift rather than "go-in" on a cash gift.

Like I mentioned in the original post, we don't expect gifts. Any gifts + cash would be a bonus, and we prefer to not receive another toaster/silverware set/crockpot/etc, because we have all of that stuff and it will be returned. Think about it, the average wedding gift is around $50, hell an "average" name brand toaster is around $50. I would much rather put the $50 towards the tax/shipping fee on the tires, than have a second toaster. :violent:

This is an awesomely unique idea. I am going to bring this up to my spouse!

Hahaha, this actually made me laugh. We downsized from a Rebel, and the Tacoma was her first choice...she loves this truck. When summer comes, she will be driving the Tacoma, and i'll be in her lil beater that doesn't have AC (she only drives 2.5 miles to work so we decided to drive the Mazda into the ground before getting her a new car).

Yes!! We have something similar to this, and it's totally worth it.

hehehe I like the way you think! I'm sterile, and we both agree that we aren't having kids. They cost too much...and there's too much in the world that I want to see, and I know I wouldn't be able to if I had kids

It seems like you have a good plan, both in terms of the trip and the gifts you'd like to receive. My only suggestion would be to make sure you send 'Thank You's' to all who send you something. I'm not sure what your age is but I've bought wedding gifts for the grown children of friends of mine who have gotten married in the past couple of years and never received any acknowledgment of the gift. In one case my GF and I spent a bit of cash buying a high-end kitchen appliance my friends son and his Fiance wanted (it was on their registry). A few months later I asked my friend if his Son/new DIL had received the gift and was told they had but that kids these days don't 'do' thank you cards anymore.

Sub’d. My fiancée and I are doing something similar. We were going to ask for donations toward a camping trailer, but we got impatient and bought one two weeks ago. Haha. So maybe a camper-specific registry?
