Rust prevention.

I live in the rust belt of Ohio, and I think we may get more salt thin snow. So my Tacoma gets its fare shear of the white stuff.

I am looking for an investment on my Tacoma to prevent the “R” word. I have read some treads about Ziebart undercoating, sound like some good stuff. I am also thinking about getting “CounterActCorrosion Protection” http://www.counteractrust.com/. Has anyone used this product? HELP ME!!!

i'm not an expert and somebody correct me if i'm wrong but Toyota may of taken care of this. I think the reason the older tacos rusted out was due to poor metal. That's what the guy told me at my local dealer when they bought back my 98 due to frame perforation and it had Ziebart done also so either it's not what it's worth or the metal was really that bad.

 

True they did fix the bad metal in the frames but the undercarriage can still rust. I have never used a product specifically designed to counter rust but i have sanded rust then used rustoleum flat black spray paint. You may want to consider this because it is cheaper.

 

I was considering undercoating, however, I was told that it can actually do more harm if not properly maintained. Supposedly it can actually hold water under the surface if it got in through a scratch in the coating.
I plan to powerwash the frame and underbody after the winter season and touch up the paint as needed.
We get the salt treatment here in Jersey as well.

 

I bought the counter act rust gizmo. Haven't installed it yet cause I have under carriage spray and I still have to get under there to scrape some of it off so it can have a direct contact to the metal.
