For aux in, there's a photo at the top of this page which shows it, better photo here.

And here's the post where I worked through this goof myself.

i'm more confused on where the 3.5mm male end plugs into. i don't recall seeing any female jacks on the pioneer side to plug into but I know I am just overlooking it. I'm gonna open it up again once it warms up a bit.

You might not have that pigtail plugged in. If you aren’t sending line out to an amplifier, I don’t think there is any good reason to use it other than this line in (which isn’t much of a good reason)

hmmm.. not sure what you mean? The yellow RCA females? upload_2021-3-16_16-48-14.jpg

If so, then I just left them loose in there. Maybe should wrap them in electrical tape next time I open it up.

Hey everyone thank you for all the input. I studied this thread and the other general thread. It was my first head unit install and I was quite intimidated honestly. Overall it took about 4 hours for wiring & install. Seems to be working pretty well. A few things I’m having trouble with:

1: does not seem to dim- I connect orange wires I also looked in settings and it’s on auto. When I setup by time it works.

    2. It would not update via wireless. I will read and try by USB. With the USB method you use your phone?

    3. The original USB port is not working. I connected the small USB port that came with the head unit to the back of the radio then the usb adaptor to that then the gray truck USB into that. Thoughts?

    4. I cannot add anything to the Home Screen right now time & music are on it.

Works great so far besides the small issues I’m having. Looks beautiful!

    1. Orange should connect to orange/white. Then when you turn on headlights the unit will go into dark mode. It doesn't really dim, at least not the way mine is set. But my android auto switches to dark mode when headlights are on.

    2. I had a hell of a time getting it to update from my phone, but I eventually got it to work. See attached screenshot to get you started.

    3. Not sure on this one. Tbh I haven't tested my USB. I will do that in the morning and get back to you. If all your connections are good then I don't see why it wouldn't be working... I seem to remember there being two gray connectors. Make sure you're connected to the one coming from the usb panel location and not the one coming from steering wheel side.

    4. I haven't messed around with home screen since I go straight to android auto usually. I think the CarAVAssist app may be able to help with that?

No problem. I just checked and my USB is working as intended. Double check your connections. Make sure USB is formatted correctly... if memory serves me right that is FAT16/32 (windows).

I saw in the other thread you were asking about the OBDII harness. There is a little connector poking out halfway on the main harness (pretty sure it's the main harness). It's very easy to overlook. Mine was poking out right after a section of velcro I think.

thank you. I got the USB to work. Must have had a loose connection.

Still have to try the firmware update again this afternoon

And thank you on the OBDII I’ll have to look a little harder today!

Germes help - Pulled the own HU to mock up the Maestro and new HU wiring.

Can someone help me with the pictured connections. Factory rear backup camera with front cam I added using the Germes module. The front camera is connected to the Germes and the rear I never touched at the time of the original install. Should the camera harness that came with the maestro plug into the factory/germes connector pictured? I tried it and it’s super tight so don’t want to force it. Also can you confirm the smaller 8 pin is the power connector that has no where to go and needs to be clipped off and wired to ground and the remote turn on for power?

    TIA

I believe the answer is yes to both of your questions.

To test the first yes, if you remove the germes T harness portion, does the maestro connect properly to the OEM connector?

Sometimes on these multiple position connectors one of the terminals can be a bit off center or not fully engaged into the TPA (terminal position assurance) which is the plastic thingy inside the connector which holds the terminal locked in. You can try to apply forward pressure from the base of the wire into the connector for each wire to ensure all are fully engaged in the TPA and see if that helps?

You should be able to tell based on the shape of the two male connectors if they are identical if it's difficult to tell if a male matches a female.

Sometimes these products use aftermarket connectors which don't have quite the same exact tolerance as the OEM Yazaki ones.

Removed the Germes and the Maestro connecter snapped right in :) I haven't looked into it yet but do you happen to know If I could use the red/black hanging off of that Germes harness for power?

So the germes has 12v and 6v out for camera, but I think those are ignition switched vs always on. Which may well be just fine for the Germes and begs the question of WTF did they do the extra T harness. I think I asked the same question myself a while back. So, TLDR, maybe? Not sure. I think it'll work, just use the 12v not 6v of course.

I think I might swap mine over to a dedicated ignition switched circuit myself b/c the germes should work fine even when the pioneer is off (I think it'll still show the rear camera when powered off but haven't tested that.)

Long winded way of saying, try it?

Well everything is connected and so far working with the exception of the cameras.

Clipped 8 pin Germes connector and connected red to blue/white remote wire and grounded black to chassis. Is working as double Mode button tap engages the camera just no picture.
Connected the white 24 pin from Germes to the backup camera pigtail 24 pin connector and then the black connector of same pigtail to the T02 harness.
Connected yellow video rca from camera pigtail to the backup camera rca on the HU.

As soon as the HU powers up bad feedback in all speakers
Rear camera video but no front
Double tap Mode button brings up front camera 'screen' but no video. Speaker feedback goes away
Down on steering to bring up rear camera I get video and speaker feedback comes back

If I pull the video rca from the harness to the HU all speaker feedback goes away. I have something not connected correctly. I tried moving the rca from the HU to the other rca on the Germes but no change.
