Anybody ever get around to picking up those Du-Has?

Looking for a similar solution that would work with a ARE Shell with windoors.

The following video is like the perfect solution for me but it costs $1624 and they only sell to LEOs and Security.

I don’t know if anyone still wants to know.
But I got one and installed it today to the rails. I didn’t use really any of the hardware they sent, just the brackets and some t nuts for the rail. Seems pretty solid tho and a decent option for storage. 5EBED1D2-862E-438E-9580-75A4DDED797C.jpgFC5D1F5E-1E63-43C5-99E5-DD941DF52532.jpg

From the measurements, it looks like this could be mounted across the front of the bed (especially if you have an accessory rail there). (Box length 55", bed width 57" at the top of the wheel wells.) Then, the contents could be accessible from the cab, through the sliding window. But to do that, you would have to mount it so that the lid hinges to the rear. In turn, that would mean that the center latch wouldn't have room to operate.

I'm seriously thinking of getting one.

do you you mind snapping photos between the bed rail and the box? Wondering if this will work with my softopper. I’d probably get one for each side.

Yeah I’ll get some pics tomorrow. I didn’t really use any of the hardware it came with. I used t nut. But u can make it fit pretty much anyway you want it. I had to mod the bracket a little bit tho

It measured it and it was about 54 inch. It also has feet on the bottom that adjustable so you can space it out a little bit. If you got any questions or want to know any dimensions I’ll be more than happy to take some pics or look into something for you. I hadn’t seen one yet on a taco so I figured I’d be the guinea pig

I've been researching this on the websites that carry it, and I'm confused. Specifically, it's not clear what hardware / brackets come with it. Sometimes, it's shown with brackets 2 feet apart in the center, and sometimes it's shown with brackets (with gussets) on the ends. And, we don't know if the captive nuts for use with the accessory rails are included. One website (etrailer) shows two different versions, with the second version (the one supposedly designed for a Tacoma with camper shell) not being available until June 15. And the manufacturer's own website shows them not being available at all!

Big problem in mounting it so that there's clearance for opening (on the hinge side) or clearance for access to the latches (on the latch side). Either way it would have to be spaced out a couple of inches from the side (or front) of the bed. Spacers don't look like they're included.

It looks like they're not making much of an effort at marketing this. Given all this chaos, I don't want to order something only to be disappointed.

I just installed this a couple days ago. I posted here. I can answer any question u have. The bottom of the box has 8 threaded holes, 4 on each side. So you can put the L brackets on the inside or on the outside. It comes with clamps, just get t nuts and drill
The hole in the L bracket bigger and it’s good. Check out my post on this thread.

this is the L bracket ( theres 2 of them) I drilled thru the slot to make it bigger for the bolt for the t nut. This pic also shows the clearance between the rail and the box. I set it up this far away to be able open the lid all the way.F4BD98BA-150D-4426-87D4-DC6C0ED61498.jpg

At the bottom of the box there are feet with rubber on them what sit against the bed. There are 2 nuts, I would say these can be adjusted to stick out 8 inches. But since I mounted it pretty flush with the t nuts, I have them at the smallest adjustment.

    This is the bottom
Of the box. 8 threaded holes .. 4 on the front and 4 on the back. Allows you to put the box facing the inside or also allows you to put it facing out so you can reach in from outside the truck. There is also a metal flat bar that gets bolted in to the L brackets and box to give more support.

I see that yours came with the simple L brackets. Other pictures show brackets with gussets, that would maintain the 90 degree angle. It's not clear which version one would get if one ordered this. My worry is that without the gussets, any significant weight in the box would cause it to sag. Actually, I would like to see brackets with gussets on the ends, and plain L brackets in the middle (4 in all).

Also, did the T-nuts come with it or did you have to supply your own? Some product pictures on web sites show the nuts as being included.

It looks as if before ordering, a personal talk with the salespeople would necessary. But judging from the FAQs on the etrailer web site, they're as confused as we are.

It came with a bunch of hardware I didn’t use. The box is suppose to be “universal” so it comes with clamps for regular beds with out the rails like we have. It comes with spacers, extensions to drop the box down lower, and a ton of other bolts I didn’t use. I used my own t nuts, they cost like 4 dollars for a 6 pack. The boxes and brackets aren’t made specifically for models of trucks I don’t believe. You might be able to get the salespeople to sell you a bracket for Tacoma’s? Not sure. I know the way I
Have it, it is super sturdy and not going anywhere. I currently have a jack, tools, and recovery gear in it. And it’s not moving and the brackets haven’t budged at all.

Further research: There are 2 distinct models of the Humpstor: 70200 (which is the one that you have) that comes with 2 L brackets, and 70300 that comes with the gusseted end brackets plus a center bracket. The 70200 is supposed to be for trucks with open beds or tonneau covers, and the 70300 is for trucks with toppers (camper shells). The 70300 apparently also includes 3 T nuts for the Toyota rails. Both models are $269.95 at Optics Planet, but they are showing a 7-9 week delivery delay. Kit #70250 is the 3 T nuts separately.

All the retailers appear to be doing a drop-ship from the manufacturer. Delivery is very iffy to say the least.

I got mine from here. Not sure what the current lead time is, but it came in about 5 days. This was like a week and a half ago

I checked that site and they don't seem to have the model 70300.

The thought crossed my mind to get two (one of each model) and install one in the bed -- using the brackets -- and the other one on top of my Prinsu rack.

That be pretty sweet. My main concern when looking for storage was the box it’s self. I like how it sits above the wheel well and pretty much takes up dead space anyways. I wasn’t sure about the brackets either, but I figured I could mod it and figure it out if I had to. But it’s turns out the simple L brackets give more than enough support.

Thanks for the photos. I think this would work perfect for my application, with the softopper.

Would you be able to flip the box 180 to open from the opposite side?

I can roll up my softopper and access from the outside rather than crawl my way in.
