When did Toyota release their newest Map Sd card update for 3rd gen taco?

Anyone know when the newest one will release?

I'd hate to drop $300 on a new SD card for another version to drop in a month.

Sorry I can't answer your specific question. But I don't know because I will never pay for a map upgrade on OE Nav. Which I do have on another Toyota.

I'll use my phone or Garmin dash mount instead.

If I just could not stand it not being in dash, I'd upgrade the head unit to be Android / Apple compatible and still drive it from the phone.

When folks quit taking the bait, dealers will have to fish elsewhere.

Someone actually gets maps from dealer and pays for it?

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
While GPS is nice and actually helpful at times, there is this old-fashioned thing called Maps. Luckily I preexist GPS and have developed a pretty good sense of direction. While paper street maps have become rare, there is thing called Google Map, which I often consult before heading into new territory. I also have my Garmin. But as @Clearwater Bill says, "When folks quit taking the bait, dealers will have to fish elsewhere." I don't blame the dealers as much as I blame the vehicle manufacturers. Problem is, there's a generation or 2 of clueless folks who can't make it 10 miles to a store without their GPS, so there may be enough sheep to continue paying the upgrade fees.
I will not be one of them.

I would put the $300 towards a real HU that performs properly. I wouldn't spend a dollar to put lipstick on the Entune pig.

Agreed. But saying that, link I posted a few minutes ago might help OP.

Sheesh! A lot of hate for someone else's map choices. I personally like the Entune cellular-independent GPS.

I too have been looking to see when the new update comes out. Card part # 86271-0E072 seems to be the newest, and it came out early last year. There are a lot of new housing developments not included on it, so I'm waiting for a 2021 update before buying one of the discount cards on Amazon or ebay.

The OEM map sucks for a lot of things. But I wouldn't mind an upgrade if it was free. I use the marker feature quite a bit, the OEM map also helped me find a route around some gates.

No hate I just think that it should be free. Dealer told me 300 dollars. Bootleg for like 30 bucks on Ebay is more my speed.

For my 2020 it came with “3 free years of upgrades to maps” I’m going to ask about it on my upcoming oil change, been almost a year of ownership dunno if a new one would be out?

Exactly. I’ve had a couple of jobs that required a test of using a Thomas Guide.
GPS is great, but you have to be able to navigate with other methods. I grew up using 7.5 minute USGS topo maps, UTM, and a compass. GPS still feels new to me. I keep a map and compass with me for trails and hikes. You never know when your electronic stuff will fail.

Check eBay and Amazon, you'll find them much cheaper. I bought the latest version at the time off eBay for $40, and it works perfectly. This was the seller:

It’s funny, the OE Nav in my Taco has made me a believer in it’s benefits. Yes I still use paper maps (I like to write notes on them) and GPS however I’ve been pretty impressed by the OE Nav. A lot of the places where I drive off-road have no or limited cell coverage so Google Maps isn’t really an option for me.

I also like how the OE Nav lists Forest Roads and some of the larger trails out in the desert. A month ago the ‘Bread Crumb’ feature really came in handy for me while I was exploring on a ridge and got turned around.

I haven’t used it much in the city so I can’t speak to it’s ability to find street addresses.

I love my OE nav and will get an update from Amazon within the next year. I love how it shows up in between the speedo gauges and dings when I'm actually at the turn. It even tells me when congestion is further up the road, through the HD radio I think... not really sure how it works. I don't think $30-40 for a map update is bad, especially when the majority of folks on here spend thousands on other mods.

I used my Garmin GPS last (first actually off-road) trip, and it mapped all the major routes.
    Any side-routes (if I liked the trail) I placed a lon/lat marker.
