Anyone have a go-to person/place for electrical work in or around Orlando? I have something I want to do with my LED light bar, and the place I went to yesterday looked at me like I had an arm growing out of my forehead.

    Thanks team.

I might be your guy, what are you trying to do? Hook up your lightbar to your horn so it flashes when you beep or something?

Ha. Maybe. Here's my dilemma. I bought a Rough Country 20 inch LED bar with integrated DRLs. It comes with a goofy 3 way switch. Which means I have to manually turn on the DRLs. I want to wire it, so the DRLs, actually come on when I turn on the car, like my actual DRLs in the headlight, then wire the LED light bar to an aftermarket switch I have to fit in one of my blanks.

The harness Rough Country sent came with a 2 relays, one for the light and one for the DRLs. However the 3 way switch only has 3 wires. Can it be done? I'm about as electric dumb as the come, so if isn't an easy task, I won't be able to do it.

Adult beverage is on me if you have a fix.

    none yet
    can it be done, yes
most states its illegal to use a light bar on the street and some states it has to be covered when on road, I don't know were Florida falls on this but if you cross the state line you may get some unwarted attention from the boys in blue

In Florida it's legal to have them uncovered, just not in use while on public roads, with that said however you would think it was legal to run with them on given the number of folks who do have them lit on the street.

They usually realize it sucks and turn them off when they get a taste of my 50" Rigid spot though, but only so long as I can do so without blinding innocent drivers, which regrettably isn't often.

Yeah that should be totally doable with one caveat, in order to do that we would have to find something that is switched hot with the ignition which would mean the "running" light of the lightbar would be on anytime the ignition was on without a way to turn it off unless we added it's own switch to that as well, but that would mean two switches or using your On/Off/On switch in it's effectively "factory" configuration from RC which you said you don't want to do.

The other option is to actually tie the bar running lights in with your daytime running lights, that's probably the better option however again without a switch in line they would always be on with your running lights.

The last issue is that the light bar may be using some rectifiers to drive the running lights and the illuminating lights with the same components which can't handle the load of running all the lights at the same time hence why RC provides the lighting with a 3 position switch On/Off/On.

You'ed have to contact RC to confirm it's okay to wire it in such a way that the back lights and the projection lights are okay to be ran together without issue before we did that.

But the short answer is yes it's possible to do what you want with one switch in your switch blanks.

My next move was to contact RC to see if they had a work around. I cant be the first one who's asked this question. Thanks for the insight. I'll see what RC says before I start cutting wires!!!
