My inner cv axle boot leaked for a second time. Are my axels ready to be replaced or am I tripping?

How do I know I need to change my cv axels? The inner boot leaked twice but it rides seemingly fine. I do have a 2-3” lift with ADS coil overs and JBA UCA’s. What’s my next move? I’ve been reading and researching a lot here.

Remove some preload, and remove some of that angle you're seeing with your cv axles.

Your inner boots are rubbing and over time, will tear.

You won't hear or notice a difference for awhile but you don't want a torn boot leaking out all that's lubricating the inner cv axle.

One option I often recommend is a high angle inner cv axle boot - https://www.offroadsolutions.com/products/high-angle-inner-cv-boot/

This subject is often brought up. Just search or scroll down the threads.

What do you mean piecing together?

What are you trying to figure out?

Lessen your preload to fix your angles, or at the very least, get some high angle boots as suggested.

I’ve done the rack and pinion, shocks, uca’s, one lower ball joint and one tie rod end. That’s just the front. Recently did a 300k service. All fluids and greases and replaced carrier bearing. I still have a good sounding knock but I think that is the rear end area. I’m thinking of doing my leafs and all of that. So that’s what I meant by piecing it together. Lots more to do. So stop yelling at me. . Sure I’ll reboot it but my question of how to k ow if the axels are going out wasn’t answered! Thanks for trying though.

Well that's the only subject I've been on in answering your thread.

Your axles aren't in need of replacement if all you're experiencing is grease coming out. So my posts were in response to that.

To better help get a question answered, stick to the subject at hand. Just trying to help but you're not willing to listen. With that, I'll let someone else chime in from here on out.

He wasn't yelling, he was giving you sound advice that you appear unwilling to listen to.

CV axles will click, usually, if they are failing. Unlikely yours are. If they are leaking grease from the inner CV boots, replace the boots as @Kwikvette has suggested. That's the best way to see how the CVs are actually doing. Otherwise, you are guessing until one actually fails.

Replacing one LBJ at a time is dumb, always replace them as a pair, just like brakes. It's covered in hundreds of threads here.

I was kidding about yelling but I couldn’t post a laugh face. I did listen. I said I would reboot. You asked me two questions and I answered them completely. So who is the one not listening or comprehending? Original question was, “are my axels ready to be replaced?” When did you answer that? After I asked a second time. The lower ball joint suggestion is something I’ll do too so thanks xtremewlr! Also, didn’t I say I looked into the CVJ silicone boot and didn’t I say that I will reboot?

    Line #3 from post #2:

Come on man, while he didn't literally say "yes your CVs are fine," read between the lines.

Yes, but that was AFTER he accused you (sarcastically?) of yelling at him and required a more direct answer.

I do feel a little click in my feet but it could be something else. I did put it in four wheel drive in the snow the last few weekends and it feels fine I guess. I will re boot first. Couldn’t hurt. Also do my other lbj. I just definitely noticed the grease splattered in my wheel well.
