Nah, bearings felt excellent and it was $15. Still makes over 14.4v with everything on so I don't think it's worn out. If anything I'd replace the brushes, which are a $8 part and take maybe 10mins to swap once you have the alt out of the truck.

 

Just buy it all from Oreillys. After RA charges $250 to ship 10 items from 12 warehouses it'll all even out.

 

I think they are thinking about technicians that make on-site support calls. I'm game though. I've been working from home for a year.

Thats why I hate RA. Want two wiper blades for $4 each? Gotta ship em both from 2 different locations and charge $20 on shipping.

My big order for the 300zx came in 20 different boxes. It filled up the fridge with magnets pretty quick.

 

It's the price you get when you show up during a sale. This yard flops entire inventory every 3 weeks, show up during a Friday and parts are 25%-75% off depending on value

 

The last brake job I did was within $10 between RA and Oreillys. I chose Oreillys simply cause I wouldnt have to wait on 5 different boxes and could simply go to the store and get everything that day.

 

We all want to get back to the office so we can have more face-to-face meetings. Ha! Actually, I get a lot accomplished in conversations on the elevator or in passing.

 

I like O'Reilley's purchase history system. They can find stuff I purchased years ago for warranty purposes. Keeps me from having to store receipts.

 

Never had prices come in similar between rock auto and the local store on a quality brand. I can see it for the house brands though, but at that point I'm not sure if it pays off cause that stuff wears out fast, especially brakes.

Not all of us are able to work remotely. I have no external access to the networks I admin.

 

You don't have a management VPN? Any reason why not?

 

We've got a number of admins that involved with new installations, setting up remote consoles, new devices, cables, and all that goes with supporting 5+ petabytes.

 

Classified networks. No connections to the outside world so no remote access possible.
