I've been reading a lot of threads but haven't found a straight answer. I have a second gen DCLB fully stock. I'm planning on putting a 3" inch old man emu complete suspension kit with 285/70/17 KO2s on 17 inch 6 on 5.5 black steel FJ wheels. Will I have any issues with rubbing ? anything I need to be aware of ? Thank you

Yes you will rub. Lifting has nothing to do with putting bigger tires. You'll need a CMC mud flaps removed. Pinch weld hammered down and plastic cut out. I run that size and rubbed like crazy when I first had them on before the cutting and CMC.

Depends on your alignment tech’s skill at centering your wheel in the well. Likely have to trim the plastic fender near the cab mount on the rear of each front well...probably remove the mud flaps if you have them. Likely need to include aftermarket upper control arms to get proper caster and camber but again, depends on how much the alignment tech knows and cares.

Just do it and deal with it on the backend.

What’s the width and backspace of those wheels? Are you planning putting on ucas?

In the specs is says it’s 7.5” wide. Depending on the offset you could have a uca clearance issue.

    This.

My truck came with that size tire, albeit on a wider and lower offset wheel. Previous owner had to trim part of the bumper and mud flaps. It still rubbed a tiny bit on me when I would hit bumps on the road. I ditched that setup as my first mod and went to something more conservative. Of course now a year later I'm looking to go bigger, haha!

I have an 07 DCLB 3" Toy tec lift 285/70r17 nankang mudstars on stock wheels. At full lock I rub uca. Don't hit any plastic or cab mount. But different tire brands are different even when the size is the same.

Yep. It’s all in the set up. On my 2015 Prerunner, no cmc, removed mud flaps only no rubbing even on trails to camp and hike spots. But also running ucas , 4 degrees of caster and have 285/70/17 17x8.5 -10 offset. But each truck is different and until there on you really never know.

I have 295x70x17, littel rub when tight turn. other then that, no problems. no CMC or pinch weld, no uca's. I did remove mud flaps. I think it depends on your offset

What's your offset on your wheel? That's insane that you don't rub. Also brand tire?

Total Chaos Lower control arm will solve the rubbing.

I had 33s on SCS F5s with -25 offset 3.5 BS and spacers.

Slapped the lowers on, no more rubbing. The tab mount I cut was useless, the firewall smashing and inner fender cutting was useless

Put on 35s didn't rub street driving but did so offroading

should be fine imo. i had 285/70r17 with a 0 offset and a 3inch lift. just have to cut the plastic liners some and remove the mudflaps if you haven't already. but when i went to my current setup with 285/70r17 wildpeaks and a -10mm offset, i have to do the CMC now and trim more plastic. but that's at full lock in reverse so not a big deal.

I know what the new ones cost:) these are the older version. I had them on this, mix of 33s and 35s, F5s and Beadlocks

They are worth what they cost (even the new ones)
They help with the alignment, they are beef, have better ground clearance, and serviceable

    Long term vs short term:notsure:

Trying to find that grille on your build thread. Do you have a link to that grille?
