It came like that when I bought the truck used. I’ll see if the dealership where he got it serviced has any record of that. Do you by chance know of a writeup onwyat you did with your third member?
    Thank you!

Every single Tacoma I have ever had grease stains like that including my first gen all but the newest one had in excess of 300K they all had grease stains. It's up to you but it's not a real fun job. General consciences is RTV so good luck if you ever need to get it out again.

Many people who wheel swap that piece with one you can hook a fuel line up to. The new breather goes on the other end of the line. They run that line to a higher location (gas tank door or bedside cubby) to raise the breather location to minimize chances of water entering the diff in water crossings. That fluid in the diff expands as it warms; contracts as it cools; the breather allows for this expansion and contraction and and this simply relocates the breather to a higher area.

You should be able to turn the cap at the top, some times they do pack up with mud but if it's stopped up more then likely you will have a leaking pinion seal.

Yep, check the torque on the nuts and check that your breather isn't plugged, then clean the area and keep an eye on it. If the fluid isn't hitting the ground, I wouldn't worry about it beyond that.

I think i do. But it’d be the same as anybody that has done gear swaps in these trucks.

They are built just like a ford 9”

You jack up the rear end, chock the front wheels, drain the rear diff, take off the rear tires, unbolt the four bolts on the back sides of the drums, unbolt the brake lines, pull each axle out about 6-8”, then unbolt the center section and remove it.

it takes a whole day to do without help and i HIGHLY recommend replacing the axle seals as well when doing it. I am damn glad i did.
